Scale Bronco reborn - BB-51 Style Well I have had this chassis for to long with no build thread. I started on it a couple months ago and wanted to do a build thread when it was finished like my other recent builds but it never seems to get finished. So now that I have taken pics of what I have done so far I will hopefully finish it by this weekend for the comp. I wanted this build to replace my Scale Bronco build with more emphasis on "scale". The wheelbase is 11 7/8", trackwidth is 9 1/4". I have a new Bronco body that needs to be painted. I started off with a Montana Scale Designs BB-51 scale chassis. http://www.nor-calrcrc.com/albums/bb.../aaf.sized.jpg Then I shaved the crap out of some TLT axles. http://www.nor-calrcrc.com/albums/bb.../aae.sized.jpg Added some Junfac TLT-1 Axle Brace Mount Set courtesy of The Crawler Store http://www.nor-calrcrc.com/albums/bb.../aad.sized.jpg Added a chassis mounted steering servo. http://www.nor-calrcrc.com/albums/bb.../aac.sized.jpg http://www.nor-calrcrc.com/albums/bb.../aab.sized.jpg And then hacked up some Revolver rims and recycled some Rckjeep rock rings. http://www.nor-calrcrc.com/albums/BB.../aab.sized.jpg http://www.nor-calrcrc.com/albums/BB.../aac.sized.jpg http://www.nor-calrcrc.com/albums/BB.../aaj.sized.jpg |
Nice, I like the way you mounted the junfac mounts. Those shaved axles look much better. Question, is your steering fulcrum made of metal? Can't tell by the pics. Also did you just leave the screw slightly loose with a locknut on the backside of it? |

And I will say it still does need some tweaking which I will do after the rig is running. |
nice build so far badger , cant wait to see how she turns out |
pretty nice, almost as if you've done this before.... |
The axle sure looks a lot better with the srevo mount shaved off "thumbsup" And I'm diggin' the one-headlight look, like a really beat trail rig. |
Ah yes, the EB is back! and its looking real sweet already. The truck has a nice looking stance with the geos and the narrow track width. What are the plans for the new lids paint scheme? |
Nice work work Badger. You always turn out some nice rigs |
nice rig "thumbsup" |
Badger whats up with post on the steering ? Why not just length the tie rod to the right knuckle or is the link mount and bolt interfere ? |
Looks bad a$$ Badger...How narrow did you take your wheels??? And im with MG I love the broken headlight effect, nice touch"thumbsup"... |
I really like the steering, never seen anyone do that on a scale rig here. nice."thumbsup" |
I love how everyone likes the beat up old body. I plan to paint the new body the same way since I like this one so much. I am waiting on my flat black paint pens to arrive before I can start painting the new lid. I can't take any credit for the "broken headlight effect" since this is the way the body was left after I tore down the old Bronco. I should have taken a picture of the rear with only one tail light, you guys might really like this 'ol beater then. The rims are just over 3/4" wide (without the beadlock rings on). That steering has been done before here, I don't remember which rig it was, but I do remember how bad a$$ it was. |
so how does it work ? does the post move with the steering left to right ? Or does it stay in one spot ? |
