| Re: Justin vs Scott Class Three Build Off - Scott's take on Short Fuse Haha, I know! Did some more work on the axles the last few days. Diff cover with sivler sharpie markings for removal: Gotta love kitchen counter dremeling! After some dremeling: Rinse and repeat for the second one. Servo: This thing has some torque: Full aluminum case: After lots of dremeling and filing, I got it all mounted on the axle: Then went to put the servo horns on and realized they weren't going to clear. So I had to space out the servo with some 4mm spacers. After more dremeling and filing, heres where I got: Decided to finish my winch while I had the dremel out: That's it for a little while. I have a website to build and I need to clean my apartment (it's a disaster from when I was assembling my national's trucks). Next up I will be building some seats, assemble my figures (I went with some Wild Willys drivers again, sadly the GF won't be visiting to paint them. She did a fantastic job on the last one!). |

That servo has some great specs. Standard size case, fast and tons of torque. Be interested to see a review on it. You going to waterproof it at all? Killer build, looking forward to seeing it completed. Wes |

No plans to waterproof it right now, I may go down that route in the future. I try and avoid the water as much as I can and I don't really want to TTC this truck. Thanks! Less than a month till the deadline so it should be together fairly quickly! | |

Went paint shopping yesterday, and after a while of looking I settled on this one: It's a dark metallic burgundy. Time to paint up a sample and then wait for the cage to see how it looks! Last edited by VMGontheRocks; 04-19-2016 at 09:35 AM. |

Got the last of the axle parts I needed from Justin: Thanks Justin! Some Proline accessories arrived: Probably my favorite proline accessory pack! Wild Willy Figures also arrived: I decided to tackle painting the face: I did ok, I have a new appreciation for the patience my GF had painting my other one: |

| Re: Justin vs Scott Class Three Build Off - Scott's take on Short Fuse Thanks! I'm trying to get everything ready for when I get the chassis back! They're about half the weight of the target skater guys. I want to say they're a little more than a ounce. I'll weigh one tonight for ya |

Drive shaft time! Not a whole lot to do, just had to put on a MIP end for the longer male drive shaft for the rear. Then I mounted them all on the T-Case and axles (totally didn't take a pic). Decided to start assembling the figures: And weight for Jon: Little heavier than I thought, but still way better than the target figures. I suppose if I was really into dremeling I could dremel out the backs some more to drop a little weight. |

Got a few parts in the mail: Some Wraith brass beef tubes and a micro RX (Not a lot of room under the hood for all the electronics) Beef tubes fit in nice and snug: They'll give the front axle some extra strength and add a little extra weight down low (1.5 oz). Shocks should be here tomorrow so I will start putting those together. I think I'm going to start tackling the seats and bench tonight. I have a new template I want to try out that I think will fit this truck better than the seats I've made in the past. Hoping to also get the chassis back from the powder coating company this week! |

Shocks arrived: Really Traxxas, you had to put the 4" big bores in this ridiculous box? Pen springs from some old sporty shocks: The long ones are for the front and the short ones are for the rear. Putting the front shocks together: Some shock oil: Fronts assembled: Big bore smoothness in a droop set up. I like it! Building the rears: Rears kind of assembled: Still need to switch to the cap mod shocks and put on the cut mini-t springs (I'll be grabbing those on Saturday). That's it for now. I ran out of lexan for seat material so I need to get more of that. I might get around to stripping the paint off the panels this week, but realistically that won't happen till early next week. Hoping to get the chassis back tomorrow, but it may be a few more days. Slowly getting there, I have a feeling the last week and a half will be busy! |

Got the wheels and tires yesterday. Thanks Sam! Sam did a fantastic job on the tires! I fitted them with some Locked Up .185 hubs and scale hardware! Then I went to mount them up and realized that my extended ackerman arms hit the inner beadlock ring. After digging out my stock VP ackerman arms (I couldn't find one set for a solid 10 minutes, was really annoying! Looked everywhere. Turns out, they were underneath my screw box lid ). I was able to solve that issue. I may look into getting the extended VP ackerman armas as they will fit. Thanks Wil for for the overlay photo! |

Looks great! Interesting setup on those shocks, I guess the theory is that it will droop when needed but won't unload?
