Default Help for a Newbie? Steering Issue

So. I picked up a Losi Night Crawler 2.0 for $20 from someone who thought it was broken because in forward / reverse mode it has a delay. I've been enjoying the hell out of this little thing, but now, my steering doesn't work fully. Any help would be appreciated. From the research I've done, sounds like my servo is bad.

Money is no issue, but do I need to be specific with the type of servo I can use with the rest of the machine? I'd prefer to stay cheap cause I'm still new at the hobby, but I'm addicted so I don't really care haha.

Description:

When I turn it on, it Hums to center, then stops. Good news.

85% of the time when I try to turn the wheels, it jerks back to the center suddenly. The receiver (I believe this is called, that the servo is connected too, has a stuttering light when this happens. So I am having trouble deciding whether it it's transmitter or receiver or servo.

I have tried rebinding as well.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like your servo is pulling more amperage than can be delivered through the receiver, causing the flickering light and behavior of the servo.
A good Battery Elimination Circuit, BEC from Castle or another company can supply the proper amperage.

Any chance you could send me an example? I am so new, that I have no idea what these numbers mean. But from what I can tell, everything is stock, so I'm not understanding the need. I will order one, just don't know which one to buy

Let me figure out how to do on here. I know how to post links on the regular site, but tapatalk is sorcery.

Hope this works, and Tower Hobbies is a good site to buy parts from.

Also, if you're close to a decent hobby store they can help and they should have a BEC in stock.

Thank you so much for your help. The closest hobby store is like 2 hours from me. Haha. I don't mind waiting. Always wanted to get into this little hobby, but could never bring myself to spend $400 + on one up front, and then customize it.

Now that I've played with one, I'm going to be broke for the rest of my life haha.

And I definitely understand the sorcery. I can't even figure out simple stuff in here. I just get tired of the constant tapatalk notifications when browsing forums so I decided to join it.

Glad I could help. The hardest part of the hobby for me is justifying the cost to my wife. Her brother was into them, so she was around. She likes to crawl with a truck I put together for her, but isn't obsessed with it like I am.

Mine is definitely not happy about the cost of some of the stuff I've shown her. Haha. But I think I can get her into them. And she becomes addicted easier than I do.
