Default Project Tiny: 1/6 2DR JK Build

I've only ever seen this body on the internet a handful of times and was lucky enough to find one this week locally on Craigslist. It's a 2DR JK body with full interior in perfect condition. It's absolutely massive and will require a full custom build. This will probably take me forever but I really wanna build this truck. I have some ideas but first thing is to figure out a chassis. I'm thinking about extending a set of SCX10 frame rails and 3D printing new wider skid/cross braces. That will require me to design the pieces and print them on my printer which I've been ignoring too long. For size reference this is the body sitting next to the larger New Bright 4DR JKU body everybody builds with. It makes that body look tiny...

16.5" Wheelbase

Wow that's huge! It's screaming for a set of widened Kyosho axles and some 3.8 wheels and tires

Well this is going to crawl over everything. What's it look like next to a set of 2.2s?

Terrible IMO. While not the rare one the size of the Nikko is the same.

I can see that a little but 6" shoes would be even better but in the end for me it looks to "Stock".

The 2.2 RBs definitely look like a stock or mild setup. I actually like it. I'm thinking about hacking the fenders off. Still need to start ordering parts for this build. Been super busy this week and trying to sell some other stuff to fund this one. Too many builds at one time!

Not sure it still exists, but you can try doing a search for it in the Large Scale section, there was a guy here, went by the name twissted, had one of those Jeeps, used Kyosho axles, but he had "attention" issues, got into it with the Mods, and deleted most of his stuff before he got banned.

I'm new here. So could I get a couple questions answered, cuz I would like to do something similar. What is the brand of the body? What model(s) was it intended for?

Welcome. RCC has a lot of talented and knowledgeable guys to help you out.

El Chups is the very very rare one but can be found a few times a year for serious $$

Mine is the basic more common version with prices from $75-150

Mine is a JK and the blue one is a TJ is one major difference. But overall the difference that makes the prices jump for mine is the detail. All the moulded detail is higher and more accurate to the real thing. Part of me is still considering selling mine instead of building it but that might break my heart too much. I'll never trip over another one of these bodies and the price I got it for was basically free.

Good answer and believe me I tried to find yours when I started mine but gave up after a month and settled. I hacked the fenders off and the tub for shocks so no big. I'll definitely be changing the hideous blue for sure.

Because it is a rare body is the more reason to build it. if you offload it you know it'll be gone before you reply with sold.

So what kind of price should I expect to pay normally for the better of the two? Be reasonably realistic please. So I can decide wether or not it would be worth it. I like to drive my rc, but also have the best, at the very same time I'm not interested in ruining an already collectors item if they are super rare and sought after as well as expensive cut I will if I don't have both. So I'm trying to decide please help out with facts and your opinion if you want to interject.

Well, assuming you can even find the JK body I'd say in the $150-$200 range. That's what I'd list it for. I can't find any that sold recently on eBay and I don't think I've ever seen one posted for sale on here in the 10 years I've been a member. Your odds of finding one at a flea market or thrift shop are probably the highest but even that is a needle in a haystack situation. Once I bulk this truck I'll probably sell it. Not sure I could stand watching that first rollover. So maybe start saving now and when I'm done you can just buy this one ready to rock. Or.... ready to sit on a shelf.
