| C3 rig project
I built a few 2.2 rigs before but was never really happy with their handling. My last one was a Yeti with a UCFab cage, a bit too heavy and fragile for the kind of speed I was looking for. I gathered some parts, bought a few more in classifieds and had a chassis built by Bent Metal around a Proline 66 C-10 body. Axles: - AR60 - VP Stage 1 kit - VP steering link - Incision spools - VDI axles - DLux U4 truss Transmission: - MIP driveshafts - VP case and plate (need to order this) - Incision gears - LURC slipper emiminator - Holmes half drives Wheels Bought the set for quite cheap from Facebook - Silver Voodoo KLRs - CI foams - VP KMC XDs I still need to figure out links and shocks (maybe some Associated big bores) |

Some update on the frame, will be powdercoated dark grey. Will cut out the front bumper from the body, maybe switch to a plastic bumper. Last edited by utieh; 11-24-2017 at 07:03 PM. |

Small update. I finally received the chassis last week and I was able to start putting everything together/figuring this thing out. I still need to order a tons of little parts - needs a motor mount (any cheap recommandation?) - upper links are too shorts, need the Jato rod ends for this DLux truss - the previous axle owner chopped the upper part of the rear axle mounts, need new ones (how do the plastic ones hold up? What alternative?) - add a battery/ESC tray like this one, it's a bit overpriced though The whole rig is much heavier than expeceted, I'm going to replace the front bumper for a plastic one, remove the one on the body, maybe the sliders too. I'd like to keep this truck low and "light" |

Looks good! What does it weigh currently if you don't mind me asking? I assume the cage is solid, or is it tube?

| Re: C3 rig project Kind of a rude question I will weigh ut when I have a chance at work. Also it's a hard guess since nothing is mounted. Chassis alone might be around 2 lb.

Finally finished the truck and took it for a quick test outside, mostly dirt and slick rocks. It's quick despite the "small block" HH motor, not really good on battery, a little bit hard to control at speed. I'm already thinking about replacing the G-speed frame by its carbon fibre counterpart and using plastic bumper and sliders. The truck could be a bit wider too (only missing a pair of wider SLW hub). |

I love them, really well designed, looks good too. I bought them second hand though so they were already installed on the axles.

Gotcha. I was like you, i love the way they looked but was curious to see how were holding up to someone who was really using them.

Axles are solid, I don't run beef tubes, I wanted to keep the rig "light"

The tyres didn't suit that terrain or something else?
