Guido2 Griz's U4RC Go Fast Wraith Scaler Well it's been a while since I had time to even touch an RC. Some friends at work have been running short course trucks lately and convinced me that I needed a go fast rig. The only thing I wanted to spend any money on was a U4RC rig so I decided I had time to put something together. It will be interesting to see if it can keep up with the short course trucks and EXO. I don't have time anymore to build something from scratch but I figured if I started with something I had I could modify as I go. I have a PSC Wraith sitting around so I thought that would be the perfect starting point. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...4454-65139.jpg I've been planning to do something like this for a while so I had an Ebay Deadbolt body laying around. The plan is to 3D print my own grill to make it look like a Bronco. I had an extra Wraith axle housing so I took the rear steer components out of Guido because I wanted to get rid of the rear steer anyway. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...4454-65142.jpg The Axial Wraith sway bar worked out great with the placement of the axle. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...4454-65141.jpg After playing around with links I liked the stretch I got from Traxxas #5319 Revo pushrods. Amazingly the HPI A718 shocks worked perfect after I laid them back to the furthest mounting hole in the chassis. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...4454-65143.jpg I'm liking the overall look so far. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...4454-65140.jpg |
Re: Guido2 Griz's U4RC Go Fast Wraith Scaler Looks good. |
Re: Guido2 Griz's U4RC Go Fast Wraith Scaler SSD Yeti trailing arms came in and they worked out great. They stretched the rear just right and the shocks worked out easily. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...4454-65146.jpg I had to go to a longer spacer to push the shock away from the chassis just a little bit since I had to move it to the forward-most hole in the chassis. I used a Traxxas Jato rod end ball and it was perfect. This put this shock nicely vertical. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...4454-65147.jpg The shocks are spaced a little bit wider at the chassis than the axle but I don't think it will be an issue for now. Eventually I plan to redo the back half of the chassis anyway. The SSD D60 centered rear axle is an amazing part. I am so glad I decided to go with this thing. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...4454-65148.jpg The Axial Wraith front sway bar worked out just great on the rear end. The rear shocks have tubing limiting the droop right now. I will have to remove that and then play with how much droop I want. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...4454-65149.jpg The wheelbase looks great to me and it is under the U4RC 15" max for the 2.2 Solid and 2.2 Unlimited classes. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/membe...4454-65150.jpg |

Re: Guido2 Griz's U4RC Go Fast Wraith Scaler I'm down for some U4 racing 8) Been working in Fort Collins for quite awhile and I drive by the Red Rocks track every day on my way home. |
Re: Guido2 Griz's U4RC Go Fast Wraith Scaler Glad to see another build from you grizz. I haven’t had a chance to do any kind of RC in quite a wile. I got boxes of parts just waiting to have something done with them. Maybe I’ll do a u4 build. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Guido2 Griz's U4RC Go Fast Wraith Scaler Boring and terrible. |

So I'm needing to buy gears; should I get the standard ratio or the OD gears? |

It pulls the front around really well, and helps keep the front planted. |
Re: Guido2 Griz's U4RC Go Fast Wraith Scaler You had me at Guido... |
Re: Guido2 Griz's U4RC Go Fast Wraith Scaler Sweet Wraith!!! I've been thinking about Yeti or Bomber Rear Lower Links.... still can't find out if they're the same length. (Yeti and Bomber - I know they're both longer than Wraith!) I like the idea of having some more "cush" in the Rear Suspension. The stock Wraith, even with 1.22lb Springs, still feels too fitm, and won't let me get more than HALF of my Rear Shock travel, especially with the Front Battery Mod!! I'm not making a serious Comp Rig, but as a former 1:1 Racer/Builder, I want the best dialed Suspension - even in my Tiny Trucks!! Outstanding Builds like yours are helping me achieve that! "thumbsup" Looking forward to seeing where your Wraith goes!! |
