New C3 build. "The Outlaw"

2 Attachment(s)
Its winter. And I don't start getting busy until march. Been out for a couple of years traveling the planet. I figure its the perfect time for a new challenge! This bouncer impressed me. I do not like bouncers mind you. but I like this one. Called " The Outlaw" I am pretty much going to follow the 1/1 build for the most part. But I love competing. So I will make a few tweeks here and there for performance and plan on seeing everyone at ECSC, KOG, and KNK. Who knows where else?"thumbsup"

Need power and crawlability. I went with the Mamba x and Castle 1415 sensored. Its a lot more power than the slate system, but crawls as well. I may be testing out a new Sensored motor though. Its an inrunner with 6 polls and 18slots! And its not 1/8th scale. Will give you a sneak peak when I get it. I have a feeling it will be the new hotness?

And also t-max diffs with lockers since its independent front and rear. Rc4wd tranny and transfer case. Have heard good things and it fits the build.

New Pit Bull 2 tires will probably make the comp scene. The 1/1 tires though will be on the final build. And messing around with the air inflatable tires. Pretty cool! Yes I know how they perform:mrgreen:

After gathering all my supplies and setting up shop(just moved to another state) I finally started on the tube work. Planning on a 14" wheelbase, and 12" wide to make room for the independent A arms. Yes she is a big girl! Plus with 5.75" tires you got to be big. Got my first upper front A arm completed in the process. I like it! Thoughts?

I was wondering when someone was going to try and tackle this buggy. It's probably been done some where, just not shared on RCC.com. I can't wait to see the progress.
I will be following this build.

Thanks fellows. I look forward to the challenge also. There has been a few different renditions of the 1/1 So Just following the AArm design is tough. It matched here with the front A arm but in other photos it's a different design. Also I wedged the underside for better performance. The 1/1 has a completely flat belly.

New C3 build. "The Outlaw"

This looks like a very interesting build , beautiful craftsmanship on the tube work
I love this machine and am desperately wanting to build one too , why didn’t you go for the monster X ?
I had the mamba X 1410 and I’m pretty sure it was a little under powered for my rock rey , looking at the tech specs as an after thought [emoji848] it was definitely on the top weight limit (6.5lbs ) especially using it aggressively for steep inclines ,
The 1515 paired with monster was the replacement which is very powerful and rated to 12lbs if I remember correctly,
I might be wrong I’m pretty new to the new sensored range of motors .

Can’t wait to see the finished product ,
definitely following this build closely [emoji16]

I think that is the Outlaw 2 with the solid rear axle and turbo 4 cylinder.

Good catch. That is why the different A Arms. I will have to try and keep an eye out for that in the future.

Not much done today but I did get the a arm mounts done they look pretty good. Fairly flush on the bottom, overall happy with them.
I will add reinforcement later

Is that piece of all thread?

I’m going to suggest you use Titanium hinge pin or screw. There a ton of stress being put on those. I suggest you make a tube sleeve for the middle where the exposed screw is at. That sleeve help with not bending them.

Its 6/32 stainless. Just using it for mock up. Thanks. Going to consider these options.

Thanks willyg. This is the 1415. Its basically a 550. A good bit larger than the standard slate or puller motors. However like I mentioned I will be testing a new production motor I am having made. Its a 6 pole 18 slot sensored version. None are on the market yet. Should be interesting!

Re: New C3 build. "The Outlaw"

Your very welcome holycaveman credit when credits due :) that new motor sounds pretty cool , how does that compare to the castle 1515 sensored system ?
I look forward to seeing it [emoji106]
