so, I'm thinking of building a scaler in addition to my venom creeper, but I think I will be too bored from a 1.9 class 1 scaler. so I was thinking of building a 2.2 class 3 rig, what are the cheapest worthy base for builds today? not looking to base it of a redcat or something low quallity, but I don't have that much of a spare money for building crawlers |

SCX-10's can be got for super cheap now that the SCX-10 II's are out (I nabbed a nicely upgraded one for $125 shipped). I would widen one with burly tubes to XR-10 width and add 2.2's.

Even some gen one axles and cut you own frame... My 2.2 f150 is fully built but built on a serious budget. The only real splurge was the ssd axle housings... Used parts and spares are the name of the game for budget building. Stock pot metal gears hold up just fine on 35t 3s as long as you use your slipper properly same with the plastic gears in the trans. The bronco in the back was built for under $150... For a more modern rig, I wouldn't hesitate to run a scx10II on 2.2's either. Deadbolt is $299 rtr. Last edited by lonleycreeper; 05-17-2018 at 10:35 AM. | |
