C3 Losi "the specialist"

SLOW BUILD WARNING!

Starting off my summer into fall build early a bit. After some extensive chassis searching I came up with purchasing a ClassiCutCustoms hill killer V4 rail set.

it has to have these things:

1. CMS front and rear
2. DIG
3. Good axle clearance
4. Angled skid

Rear cantilever is a bonus.

In about 7-8 hours of computer time on tinkercad scratching my head with the occasional tinkercad farting out is brains and leaving me with a blank white screen... I came up with these dig t-cases. The 2 skids are not for this project. I will be designing a different skid along with some other mountage parts for the motor and 5 servos... 5? what.. that's odd.

Placed my order for the skid and tcase on this past Friday.. its already on its way here! I should be mocking up the skid and complete tcase this week. I have already been working on the chassis plates over the weekend. Hard to fit 5 servos on this rig lol. The skid is only 44mm wide.

Brood 550 2500kv for mach up. Going with a holmes puller pro stubby.

Couple things going on here.. Mainly the front shaft from the axle to the t case. This is going to require some extra link math from me lol. So im going to have to either add axle wrap or take it out completely. We shall see with links installed. Axles need to come first now. Cant do anything else untill i have some suspension cycling on this one.

That xr10 uni with a baja rey driveshaft yoke will go from the motor to the tcase. Another u joint will be added to that where the 3rd bearing rides on those unis. Its going to be a pretty short shaft.

Last picture, links will be secured with hinge pins from a losi 22 series vehicle. Set screws go in those 4 tiny holes you see from the top side of the skid. Doesnt really need the set screws, but they are there for added security.

Not yet. well, I picked out a body maybe.. well, I found 3 choices lol.

Its a slow build. I'm not getting any other chassis parts printed till I have axles sitting under these rails with links and drive shafts. The servo placement game must be on point for this skinny width.

I have just been on a tire gluing kick is all really. I'm almost done. 3 more sets to modify. "thumbsup"

Re: C3 Losi "the specialist"

Been working on the body/ cage a bit. A mix between the jconcepts f250 mt racerback body with a night crawler se cage. Takin a bit of work to pinch the front but i think i got it. Just need to fill in a few gaps. The body will be painted silver from the inside and black with a lame flake on the outside.

Going to widen the chassis a bit so i can mount servos sideways between the chassis and so i can move the motor shaft to be inline with the transfer/ dig case input.

I have axle housings coming my way for this build in white. If it gets dirty to much, i can paint the spots for pictures.

Cut the pass out. Left a little open spot so i can get my fingers in and switch the truck off when body is on and unplug it. Need to fill the void between the hood and a pillar on the cage.. I think a high lift jack would be perfect. Some trx4 scale acsessories will be put on this rig.

Thanks man. I used bondene to join the lexan. Painted the inside with silver for lexan and the outside is black for hard plastics. I hope it works for trail damage.

If the remote is in my hands, not likely. lol. I'm not that good of a driver. Hopefully the controls are as easy as flying my drones.. I'm going to try and configure the radio as if it was my super.

Be very abusive to this part if you get the chance. Lol. Almost looks like i bought it this way eh?

Baja rey drive shaft universal split with a axial xr10 inner cut down and spun down to 4mm inserted into a ofna 8mm outer uni. Super short.

The one part of the baja rey uni i had to dril out to 3.2mm to fit on the motor shaft. So i anealed it, drilled it out from 3mm threads to 3.2. Drilled a 2.47mm hole and tapped it for a 3mm grub screw. Then i re hardened it. Of course i had painted the center part of the shaft and the uni i had heated up.

I should have thrown the parts in an acetone bath instead of using no flash.. I think there was a spot with some residue and it caused a few small holes in the welds once i ground it down. There was a crater on one side. Almost like there was no argon.

At leat i got it done. Axles are next. I need to talk to a certain portal guy....
