Default What had happened was...

I came by this wraith in a trade a couple of weeks ago. It ran and drove well, had some nice parts, and I thought I’d maybe build a mud truck...

Then I really started looking at it and decided to put the bomber trailing arms in the correct position which meant that I needed to make new upper links. Obviously that led to me starting to build a rear cage, which led to me reallllllly starting to dislike how the truck body fit.

Then I dug out the front end from my crc scx10ii and I went down the rabbit hole.

I didn’t really care for the rear cage so I took it off, stared at some YouTube videos and started making stuff with metal. I went a few days without taking pictures but wound up with this.

I put it together again to check fit and build some doors.

Yesterday I started building the back of the cab and got the doors mounted temporarily so I can make the door jambs. I think this is also the end of the mud tires, I have yet to spend any money on this thing but it needs wheels and tires, and now that it’s quite heavy it’s time for some shocks. Hopefully I’ll be able to do some finish work this week and maybe get the chassis painted.

Still need to cut and hinge the hood, find some odds and ends, sort out the interior, and there is a whole lot of bodywork/paint yet, but it’s getting there.

Nice progress. I bet this would look good with the 2.2 Wrangler MT/R.

Thanks. It definitely needs a more scale wheel/tire set. The mud bashers just barely touch the flare at full tuck. That being said, those tires are just too tall for what I’m doing now.

I really like the direction you're going with this!! There is something about that frame or chassis I really like!!! Must be the lines, or the rear cage? I don't know but I like it!!!
Very good start!! Keep it up!!

Interesting design. What interior are you using?

Thanks, I’ve been staring at formula off road trucks and ultra 4 rigs nonstop pondering this.

An unidentifed interior came with it, kinda looks like a proline plc, but it’s not. I’m positive that a wraith spawn interior will still drop in. I’ve been meaning to pull the interior out of my poison spyder wraith just to see how it fits. If that fits well, I’ll likely order one of those as I like that better than the spawn interior.

Yessir! That’s it for sure. It actually fits quite well, but it’s definitely not as nice as the wraith interior is.

Finally been making a bit of progress, got the chassis painted, I have the hood fitting well and the grill shortened. I definitely need to do something different with the fuel cell, it just disappears back there. I’m still pondering my wheels and tires, but I plan to buy a set of shocks for it tomorrow.

Hot DAMN, that thing looks tough enough to jump up and down on with steel-toed boots!

Really like the curved rear corners of the cab area...

Looks great. The fuel cell doesn't look too bad how it is. If you want to make it stand out some satin black would work there.
