Rotated the chubs forward one click and everything clears, but the chub screw holes are beyond use.

Ordered a set of stainless steel axle tubes, they are hard to find right now, either backorder or 40$+ for one set, and most places only have 1 on hand

Also ordered brass knuckle shims, over the steel ones I have, new spur gear slipper pads incase I want to use the 64t spur.

Should be here Friday

Tire foams haven't shipped yet, luckily they are coming from northern California so it shouldnt take too long at all.

Tire foams show up tomorrow

More packages Thursday

But the important one shows up Saturday

Got invited to a U4 track race on Sunday, everyone's brushless so I won't join but it would be cool to run the track a couple times.

Tire venting? Planning 3 small 5/64" holes (2mm) placed 120 degrees around the center tread of the tires?

Also weighed the rig, 7lbs 9oz which seems really light, maybe lack of spare and all the removed accessories.

Not the funnest project

I vented the tire and just started going at it.

Have to glue the tire to the inner beadlock ring just to hold everything together, not the whole thing just 4/5 pinch points.

Tires feel GREAT after install though, just enough give on the tread and sidewalk flex is much much better.

And finish shots before it gets tore up

It DEFINITELY weighs more up front now, really grabs and goes on acceleration, probably the foams and added weight.

I may have to gear down to the 15 or 13t pinion, extra rotating weight and a little more low end control would be nice in the turns

Doesn't seem like it's rolling near as bad as it was!

Got the motor up to 210 on a fresh battery and some really long runs, gravel parking lot at the University of Oregon

Losing my steering as it bounces but that's solid axle and loose gravel for ya!

Bashed a little, just some 4' ramps here and there

Drained 2 batteries, first time I've been through one without breaking something!

Going to drop the pinion down to 15t

Noticed some clicking today, tore the front diff apart, looks like a bad front pinion bearing. Its not locked up but I can feel it's not quite smooth, like some of the balls are flat on the inside.

Hopefully it didn't melt it's bearing housing too badly, small small lip I can feel with a pick.

Going to try and shim it, new bearings, and see what happens.

My rear driveshaft looks like it's bent, holding up fine but in a freewheel I notice it's cantered a little, may just be the plastic.

All new bearings, couldn't source shims

Not completely convinced it's the pinion, might be the front driveshaft. Oiling it should change the pitch of the noise, I'll see if that effects it

Tried some weight (4oz) on the rear axle, only made the flipping worse, just about do it from a stand still

U4 Race today, I placed 3rd in one race because I didn't flip,.was running a dead battery

Need to order some parts

Stripped a servo horn, 90mm shocks up front, axle extensions, and possibly another new front diff setup

Swapped the diffs around, now running factory gearing in the front and rear, factory locker up front and incision spool in the rear

Eliminated a lot of play in the rear, getting some torque twist again but it turns way better.

Ordered the parts for an open front differential, I think it's Axial Scorpion parts that fit

More servo horns, went through 2 today, both stripped the aluminum

Also ordered 90mm shocks

New parts day,

Vanquish Servo Arm

Hot Racing axle extensions, 15mm up front and 20mm, it's all my LHS had in store. Not sure how these compare to the Vanquish SLW 850 hub extensions, i would assume these out more stress on the axle shaft instead of the hub

DEFINITELY helped with the rolling, but added some play back into the axles, or my rear shafts are going.

I had to use the factory push through shear pin, as the lock/screw in style pushed the extender in the vanquish lockouts in the rear

My runtime is almost nothing, I'm getting ~15min but I suppose it's pushing pretty hard, no over heating issues. Seeing 165 on the motor and 150 on the ESC

Got through 2 batteries before losing the screw on the servo horn, not enough loctite or it wasn't dry yet

Cheap 90mm shocks installed, definitely lowered the ride height, I went back to "factory" shock positions, and I'm getting much less bouncing with these, still 30wt oil

I'd love to eventually switch to prolines but would rather put the $$ towards brushless

Servo horn got a new screw, loctite, and lock washer

That's it, Vanquish servo arm sucks. Lock one thing down and everything else loosens, I've got some cheapo aluminum arms arriving tomorrow

I'll switch them out, good failure point without a servo saver anyways. About $1.50 each

Open front diff from a scorpion axle should arrive this Saturday from AMain

Shipped to Oregon, from California. But as of today it was in St. Louis Missouri.......not sure how that works, couple extra trips over the rocky mountains to get their moneys worth?

Servo arm is swapped, broke one already when when I hit the curb on accident

Messed with the pinions, 13t loses ~1.5mph but it's definitely more controllable, and plenty more torque

Might switch back when the new front end shows up.

Thanks for logging all of this for us. It's fun watching your rig get dialed in.
