Got the chassis sprayed with primer. I never realized how cool primer can look. Although initially wanting to paint it Satin Black, I'm almost tempted to leave it.

Took both front and rear ends apart to check bearings, gears and grease. Bearings and gears still in great shape. Fresh grease and they're good to go.

I'm going to replace the steel spur with a stock plastic spur.

I discovered that the idler and lower gear are plastic. New metal gears have been ordered.

Got the red anodized chassis braces de-anodized. Now I'm just waiting on a complete Team KNK stainless screw kit, and a complete bearing kit. If you're gonna do it, do it right.

Had a nice surprise when I got home from work today. My screw kit arrived! Two days from Ohio to South Florida. I honestly wasn't expecting it until Tuesday-Wednesday of next week. Team KNK never fails to disappoint.

Can't go wrong with KNK. I exclusively use them now.

This will be my fifth vehicle with KNK. Best stainless steel screws on the market.

Ran into my first problem. The shocks are going to hit the chassis. Can you mount the shocks on the outside of the shock mount on the axle? Pros and cons of this?

Man that sucks. I don't see why you wouldn't be able to as long as you put a spacer in where it should mount to keep the tabs from breaking off.

Problem solved! I cut a piece of delrin to size to fit in where the shock ball used to be. I was just going to use a shock ball but didn't have any that would fit. I used a 3x30mm screw.

Up top, I used an aluminum shock standoff and a shock insert from a Proline Powerstroke shock. The shock tower support between the towers is an aluminum chassis support I swiped from the donor truck. It's threaded on the inside. Perfect fit!

Even at full compression I've got about 4mm of space at the bottom. No rubbing at all whatsoever.

I threw a tire on to check my turning at full lock I've been using 15mm extenders so the tires don't hit the springs. Now they hit . Don't know what I'm going to do about that. We'll see once I get it completely together.

The KNK screw kit didn't include the 3x20mm screws for the lower links. I'm waiting on those from Amazon.

Made some more progress. Got the rear shocks done, and the rear sway bar set to go. It's starting to resemble a truck.

I think I may have the sway bar worked out. I used Losi TLR 22 ball cups. They are much shorter than the cups I used on the monster truck.
