Smart body mounting idea! What if you shoe goo the screw? If you ever needed to remove it shoe goo is easy enough to scrape off. It would hold the screw on enough to get the cap on. just a thought.

This is a great idea! I'll do that on the second one. I only did one last night just to see if it would actually work.

Mod .8 and 32p are not exactly the same... but they're close enough that I run them together. I kinda have my doubts that your 9t is going to reach your 56t spur, it wouldn't mesh up as tight as I like with my 58t (motor was all the way up against the trans, no more room for adjustment) hence the reason I suggested 9/60. I know that 10t will fit with a 56t though.

Good choice. That's what I'm running in my Gen8 with 2.2s. good mix of speed and Tq.

You are the second person to confirm this here. I would have picked the wrong motor.

I wasn't happy with my 12t motor but I probably had it geared too high. It would crawl if you leaned into it but one mistake with the finger and it would go full send lol. And it ran hot.

87/20 lol. Very odd combo. Previous owner did some “modifications”. It would pop a wheelie like a monster truck though.

20/87 was stock Wraith gearing back in the day.... Not odd but kind of high for a crawler...

Phildirt: I'm guessing your 12t was a 3 slot motor, like a traxxas titan? The 12t 5-slot Crawlmaster is about the same speed as a 21t 3 slot (so, much slower than a 3 slot 12t) but it has much smoother start up. My neighbor had (has?) a 12t 550 Crawlmaster sport in his Wraith with 6" tires, 10/56 gearing, wp1080 esc, and it was VERY smooth starting up and still had decent (not spectacular) punch/get up & go on 3s. I think that motor on 4s would be pretty sweet.

I added the driver side body mount. I'm definitely going with the proline locking knobs. I was actually going to use magnets instead until I found a cracked magnet on my TRX 4 sport last nite. Now I have to peel that off and silicon on a new one. What a PITA.

I just got confirmation that my motor will be here on Monday. A brand new WP1080 is staying nice and warm in a drawer under my workbench.

I made some more progress over the weekend. Got the body mounts done. Did some wheel well surgery so the tires don't rub. It's ready for paint.

I decided to add some body posts to the rear just for added support in case of a rollover. I was initially going to use the proline locking knobs, but didn't like the way it looked at all. Plus, I have large mitts and it was hard to get my hands in there to tighten and loosen those knobs. Even my 13 year old son had difficulty doing it.

So I decided to go with a traditional body post. I cut a Traxxas Slash body post down to size and used a 3x8mm screw left over from my TRX 4 sport to secure the body post to the L-bracket. The 8mm size was perfect as I didn't have to use a washer.
This looks much cleaner and it's so easy to slide a pin into the post. I've come to find that using a actual drill bit to drill body post holes is much easier and cleaner then using an actual body post tool.

We need a delete button, lol.

Thanks for the cab mount idea! I have those same exact L brackets and 2 extra posts, so this should work out!

You're welcome. I had to drill pilot holes into the body posts. I used 1/16" drill bits. Measure twice, cut once. LOL!
