Klampyz SU823RO post apocalyptic rebuild

Hi forum. Ive been away from the forums because its so much easier to post pics and have feedback etc on Facebook these days.

But figured as im finally rebuilding this rig that id start a thread and hopefully commit to its completion, at least to its former glory with some improvements.

So what brought about the tear down?

Well, it was well used and I wanted to weld up some points, and after an acid dip to remove the paint, well, it disintegrated. Hahah

So then when I attempted to weld repair panels, it seems my skill went out the window and burned a number of holes. However I decided this will work in my favour towards the post apocalyptic vibes so as it weathers and wears in, scratches dents, etc, itll seem like its just a well used rig in the appropriate environment with rust holes and all the scale realism of a steel vehicle.

Could I get some more info on this setup?
I assume this runs to a transfer case of some sort.
What kv motor are you running?

I've been storing parts for something like this for years and I think I'm ready to tackle it, but I'm not really sure what to use.
What kind of reduction do I want/need?
Any input is helpful!

Hey man, thanks.
Yes its a 1/8 size four pole brush less mounted into a HPI gear reduction unit. Im not sure but i think they're long discontinued However u can buy planetary reduction boxes at 3:1 and 5:1 pretty easy on eBay and rc4wd etc.

Yes, it feeds the top shaft of an axial 3gear transmission like a transfer case layout.

I havent fitted any of it yet. Thats coming tho so keep an eye on it.

For now, its officially name plated, 5U8Z3R0

Some progress was had.

So I thought it would be cool to mount this printed sump onto my motor but it ended up sitting on the axle. So off it came.

Hey, great to see some interest!!

I have infact got this to a running state, but then the servo shot the bed. So it's been shelved again but I'm into rc again atm so perhaps it'll see a comeback soon.

I've been neglecting the forums due to the ease of Facebook of late. So definitely need to relearn how to embed pics.

Thanks for looking

Good to hear that your back at it.
I've had a bit of a hiatus myself, but am trying to get rolling again now that my son likes it.

It’s a neat looking build. You should complete the comeback. Folks here appreciate build threads.

I hear Facebook is an affirmation hotline, post your shit and count your thumbs. Things roll a little slower here not ideal for those looking for lots of touches.
