Axial 55' F100 Wroncho

Not sure who might be interested, but I decided to build a wroncho out of the Axial 1955 Ford F100. Planning on making it a mud truck. Feel free to ask any questions.

This is my second SCX10-ii Wroncho build, they're pretty fun so hopefully someone finds this useful to build their own "thumbsup"

Brand new Axial Ford F100 bought from RPP for $299 on Black Friday

Needed parts:
1. Wraith Links with EXTENDED rear links. (The Incision links pictured won't work since they don't have extended rear links). I've used RC issues. they have brass and aluminum options.

2. Vanquish wraith panhard kit - VP.S03250 I was able to use some links from the incision kit for the steering links.

3. Scaler Fab universal bracket. I use scx10 ii trans skids. Both Vader products and stock work with this bracket.

4. Shocks - I got 100mm shocks from a member on here, but ended up using amazon 120mm internal spring shocks for now. My wroncho
Cherokee uses 110mm Amazon shocks and works great.

5. Tires - I'm using RC4WD 2.2 TSL Super Swampers 5.7in!!

6. Wheels - Amazon 2.2 beadlocks. Have a great offset. I'm going to pair them with SSD scale brake rotors for even more offset.

I also FINALLY got MIP tools 8)

Used a dremel so the brackets fit between the slider mounts

Still more progress coming, here it is so far next to a stock height and my 2.2 wroncho for comparison.

Very cool idea for a Wroncho. Anxious to see the completed beast.

Thanks man! The links get here Monday, so it should be finished then. I'll be posting more detailed photos on everything too. I'll be looking to add fender liners and an interior "thumbsup"

Are you keeping the front links stock?

Do you have a link for the wheels?

The front links are normal length wraith links. They are perfect length for the front. If I would've gotten the extended length kit I'd have all suspension links needed. I just forgot I needed the extended ones haha

Here are the wheels off Amazon.

What is the benefit of extending the wheelbase with the extended rear links?

It centers the wheel in the wheel well. With out it the wheels are about an inch too far forward. If you have a truggy you don't need it, but if have a body you will.

Its 97% complete.

ScalerFab brackets mounted

I used a shorter link and bent it to clear the crossmember by the receiver box.

Nut and bolt for that link go into the reciever box and the hole was filled with liquid electrical tape.

Extended RC Issues links

Finished! Just needs front fender liners, interior and a brushless system 8)

My Cherokee Wroncho wheelbase is 13 1/4. Possibly due to the height difference.

Nice builds!
I dig the XJ too.
How do the tires compare with each other?

Thanks man! I'd pick the Swampers over the boggers any day. For the ford I went with the boggers due to size as I plan on using it more as a faster mud/sand truck. They both have proline dual stage foams. The side walls on the boggers seems thin. A lot of reviews mention this as well.

The XJ crawls great and swampers in 1.9 or 2.2 are some of the best tires you can run IMO.

I also have the same boggers and swampers in 1.9s and the swampers are better. Both have proline dual stage foams, but this time the boggers are on the axial 8 holes and swampers are on SSD wheels haha

If you go with swampers in 1.9 I recommend SSD wheels with the brass rings, and Proline dual stage foams. "thumbsup"

Thanks. I’ve just recently picked up a set of Duratrax Deep Woods and they work really well but for the next one I want something different only so that everything is not the same,. I was looking at those two options so the question was timely.
Swampers it is. "thumbsup"
