Default SCX-10 rebuild - tube buggy

This started off as a Honcho SCX-10 with a few upgrades and mods. It was wheeled hard and held up well. It then sat on the shelf for years until I recently got the motivation to rebuild it the way that I originally intended.

Visually it was ugly as F, but performed well…

Anyway, here are the specs and the rebuild.

Specs :
Stock axles
Stock gear case
Stock ESC
18 tooth pinion
Hitech 7955TG servo
Castle BEC (set to 6v)
Tekin 35t motor
Custom 3 link front with panhard
3.5oz weights front / 1.75 rear
Proline 2.2 TSL’s

Chassis stripped down to the frame. Rear section cut off and started to tube it out. Always wanted to learn how to braze and this was the perfect way to do it.

Tube is standard 3/16 brake

line.

Body panels mocked up and then traced on a .20 aluminum sheet

Chassis cleaned up and painted

Drivetrain and wiring tucked in

Turned out awesome! Nice work. I just started reviving a 1.9 first gen honcho so this thread is great motivation.

Thanks!

A couple more pics - I was itching for a real test run and had to get it outside.

It's very balanced and has a very low COG - super pleased with how it performed

Added some much needed splash guards. Used rubber roofing for this

Also designed and had the wife print out some vinyl graphics to give it a little flair. Really happy with how they turned out
