2 speed is on the way, it’s locked into high out of the box, so no reason why it can’t be locked into low if you didnt want 2 speed

I'm not ready to let go of the crawler idea. I think if the gearing can get sorted, the rest can be worked out.

Waiting for news on when the kit to be released.

The gearing is holding it back from being a good crawler. Horizon said the two speed conversion and the Axial sway bars should be in this month. As soon as the kit is out I plan to do the same thing I think it has excellent potential as a crawler.

The Ryft is a blast to drive. Haven't had any problems so far but the motor squealing and cogging had to go. The Tekin T8i 2700kv fits perfect with the stock pinion. Its an 8th scale motor so this should be fun.

Same... I have had 0 issues with mine, and am continually impressed with what it can do.

Stout bit of kit, that antirollbar. Might order it meself. Funny. I use the same 3s ‘basher’ battery. It’s nice and flat, and flatter than a 5000mah Traxxas battery. I néed that space, because I got a 5w speaker sitting on top. I love me some sound of a v8 with it. ( turnigy sound system has some exellent v8 sounds) Cheesy as some might find it..

Am now fiddling with the 4-in1 faux exhausts of the Losi LMT. Trying to find a way to get those to fit.

Maybe a bit ‘superficial’, but that swaybar looks like it visually belongs! I was about to get the silver one, but that looks ace in black.

Got the LMT exhausts fitted. Shame I had to cut some of it off.
(Sorry about the quality and the huge flare. Sun jùst came put after several bouts of hail and snow ( yes, really.. )

(By the by, fitted a 6cm RC4WD LED bar at the front. Bit fiddly, but once in.. my word.. O_o now thát is ‘lighting’ eye-searing on only the 6v out of the RX.. )

By the by, for those that bent the rear swingarms: Integy rear swingarms for the Yeti fit with a bit of fiddling. Fixing the swingarm support on the axles upside-down, makes up for the somewhat shorter length. Still a bit shorter than stock, but it kinda looks ‘right’ now.

My Ryft is off the road for a while, my Mamba X decided to die, so has been sent back to Castle for hopefully a warranty replacement

Ugh. That’s a spot of bad luck. No other sensored ESC laying about, I guess? I have rather good experiences with the Hobbyking/Turnigy 120 amp sensored speedo’s. Maybe worth a look, even just to have a spare?

Going to repower the Ryft again..... The T8i 2700kv was pretty smooth but I think I ruined it on some creek crossings. Its not running right after getting splashed a number of times. Its an indoor SC motor, probably not meant for that.

Anyhow I took the motor and ESC out of my Traxxas Hoss and putting it in my Ryft. I know this combo is waterproof, my kids have submerged the Hoss several times and beat the crap out of it with zero problems. This motor is crazy fast on 3S. I had to grind the rear of the skid plate in a few spots but nothing major, fits great. FYI the motor is 36mm x 70mm

I noticed the front tires were ballooning bad when it did a wheelie. Tore it down and the center diff had almost no grease but the trans had tons of it. Going to stuff the center diff with as many ear plugs as I can to lock it up. I should probably check the axle diffs next

All 3 of my diffs were pretty much empty

Target did not have ear plugs but my LHS had 20M weight diff fluid. Wow this stuff is like putty. Filled the center diff and its much better. I think the thicker diff lube is better than locking the diffs, its stiff but has some give to absorb shock. The Traxxas Hoss ESC has the exact same bolt pattern you just need longer screws, no servo tape! Super easy conversion, just hope it works.....

Ooff!

With that amount of power, it might be necessary to get some big, bèlted SCt tires, or something. Or take some boggers and tape the inside with gaffer-tape. The stock 2200kv 3560 already makes the tires go pizza-cutter in an alarming way on 3s.

By the by, I got the same sways as CurbCrawler. $16.- on fleabay. Ordered April 8, got the set( setS, bought some for the SMT10 too) on april 21. Pretty quick for a China seller, I say. They, indeed, work like a charm and a treat. No longer I’m fear-sweating profusely when slamming the throttle. Made a longer bar from a discarded 3mm speedboat shaft. High-tension steel. takes off as straight as an arrow, whatever the power or surface.

How is the rubber compound of the tyres? Super stiff or suitable for a crawler?
