Default TINY Brushed A Ryft?

Anyone out there running a brushed Ryft? What turn and pinion are you running? I'd like to crawl with it. Not really bash or bounce...LOL

17.5 to 21 turn should keep it pretty quick on 3s yet, have good low wheel speed. If you really want to slow it down, drop in a 35T Crawlmaster or even a 55t.

Not heard of too many doing it but a few.

Thanks for the information. I'll probably go with a 35T. But they don't make a 35T crawlmaster. I have a HH 27T torquemaster but was afraid of smoking it. I also have all the stock electronics that came out of my Bomber 2.0 also. Maybe I'll run them for the time being.

Using stock gearing... I think it might be way to high to keep a brushed motor happy.

The brushless setup gets hot, and brushless tends to be much more resistant to heat...

I wasn't going to keep the stock gearing. But thanks.

I did some research and Found out that I can run a 550 size Holmes motor with lowered gearing. They can be a 35 T or 45T so not a lot of wheel speed but for crawling it might just be perfect and just what I'm looking for. I'll probably never take it out of low gear anyways...lol

This is a Kit truck I picked up in trade and rebuilt. I used the stock wheels on the TSL Boggers. I'm still looking for a set of wheels I wanna run on it. I'm going to repaint the body black and leave the cage alone and run a black and white kind of scheme. So I picked up a 45T Holmes TrailMaster Sport 550. ( At the advice of Holmes Hobbies ) a 15 tooth pinion an HW 1080 ESC and a power hobby 35kg servo. NO shift servo. I locked it in low gear with a zip tie...lol Here are a couple of pics for those who like pics.

Looks good.
FYI. A Fakebook group member made and shared an STL for a low locker to set the tranny into 1st, like the RTRs come in 2nd.

Here are the body panels painted up. They're black metallic. Next are the helmets, and painting the interior black. Or I may leave the interior white and just paint the suits black. And I think I may go with The skulls in helmets. On to the pics!

Sweet that's exactly the idea that I had to do as well. I just pulled the trigger on a RTR Black Ryft that supposedly has been tested with a bad center diff. Well needless to say for price shipped and never been run I'll take the risk. Plan is to convert to brushed like you have done. I already have the 1080 and the same HH motor. I would love to know how well it has worked for you? Any other tips for switching it over? Should have the Ryft in Friday to determine if the center diff is bad or if it needs shimming or if I'll just do the lockout.

Runs nice and cool with a 15T pinion. Crawls like it should. You'll need to widen the hole where the motor mounts with a Dremel a bit. So the motor can fit...

That sounds like a pretty easy thing to do. What gear set are you running that with the high or low? Trying to decide on what to do on the 2 speed front. I think I'm going to run SSD spools in center and rear and maybe the front after it chews thru 3 sets of diff gears then spool the front as well. Have too see on that. Guess I should actually get the Ryft in first before I go changing everything lol. I'll be following your progress on this build since your pretty much doing what I want to do with it as well.

I only run it in low gear. On 3 cell. It's not the fastest but it gets the job done. Easily. And all three are locked on this one. I'm painting the interior now. It's turning out pretty good so far.

Pardon the lack of knowledge but can the trans be assembled as a one speed with low only? Or did you put it together as a 2 speed and lock it out somehow? I'm trying to decide on what options I'll have and some idea of how to make it work. Hopefully UPS is true to their delivery time I should get my rtr ryft tomorrow. As soon as I get it in I have to tear apart the center diff as it is said to be bad and not working and while I'm in there I can get some parts ordered to change the gears or add 2 speed to get low and probably 3 ssd spools asap.

It was already put together. I traded for it and put in my own electronics. It was a two-speed I just locked it in low gear with a zip tie...lol If yours is a RTR version it will only have the high gear I think. You'd have to get everything to make it a two-speed. And then lock it in low gear. But I do know the RTR only came in high-gear. If it's a kit it already has both gears.

Yeah its not too bad 23 bucks to get the gear set so that's a no brainer for me if I'm already in there tearing apart the diff. At this point I'll probably just zip tie it as well. Thanks for the info I figured for 320 shipped for a non used Ryft is just to hard to say no even if it is the rtr. I'm in it still way less even if I buy the extras.
