I'm about to build a Ryft for a buddy, but not sure what electronics to go with. I've recommended a SHV800, a Mamba X and a Castle 1410-3800kv motor. He currently only has some 3S batteries, so the Mamba X gives him room to grow. This is also his second rig so I don't want it so fast that it comes home in pieces every time he takes it out! Anything better that anyone can recommend? |

Stock is 2300kv and its fast in rtr mode, too fast? During the build lock it into low gear and 2300 kv should have plenty of juice, but be easier on parts.

I went with the Castle 1415-2400kv, which is honestly as hot as I would personally go with the 2-speed. Even at that, second gear is fast. Like... real fast. with a 3800, I think the first gear would be about as fast as my 2nd... and the second gear would be bonkers. I'm just running a Copperhead, because I have no intention of taking mine past 3S. It's dummy fast as is, but will still actually crawl/bounce. For steering, anything north of 400oz should be plenty. The shift servo needs to be relatively beefy, I've already killed two. Unless your buddy is never gonna do anything except zip it around in a flat field, I strongly recommend just building it with spools all the way around. I started with a center spool, then spooled the rear, then the front, and every time it got a bit better. |

Spools transformed mine too! highly recommended, though parts can start breaking. Spools make it easier to drive on everything except pavement. |

I'd also recommend the 1415 2400kv motor. Or, if it can fit (probably not) the 1512 2650kv. I installed a 1415 in my kids wraith, on 4s hv geared low it crawls nice and still has decent top end. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk |

Went with the Tekin RX4/2300KV ROC412 HD combo. Dropped from stock 17t to 15t. fully modded/tweaked 2 speed installed. Low speed is excellent and its faster than it was stock. Going to drop to 12 (if I can make it work) or 13T to slow up the top speed a smidge and then improve low speed control. |

Excellent!! He swapped down to a 2200kv, order spools for all the way around, and went with Vanquish axles, so it'll hopefully last more than one battery!! Thanks for all the info! |

Any reason not to go with a Max 8 G2 ESC for the Ryft? I can get a decent deal through a HW warranty/upgrade swap Any input is appreciated, not much experience with sensored setups. Thanks |

Should be a good fit EXCEPT. those motors are pretty large, so you'll need to trim the link mount, or maybe the Treal Skid for larger motors may fit without modding.

Well I ordered up a Max 10 SCT and a rocket 3665 2200kv because I'm a cheap a**. Should be plenty for me for now. Will report back but it may be a while.

Anyone try a Hobbywing Axe R2/540L 2100kv combo in a Ryft? My friend has Axe/2300kv (regular 540, not 540L) in his Gmade GOM and it throws that rig around easily. Might pick up a Ryft soon and main driving will be trailing and mild crawling along a creek so won’t be doing any insane driving or ballistic speed.

I guess I’ll answer my question just in case any others were curious. After watching many Ryft videos on YouTube one of the Ryfts was powered by the Spektrum 2100kv system and the owner was very pleased with the performance. His Ryft has lots of added weight and 4 wheel steering. Assuming that the Spektrum and Hobbywing systems are similar (or the same) and both have the 2100kv 540L motor I feel comfortable getting the Hobbywing combo when I get the Ryft.
