Bummer. I have not seen the Trooper yet so I look forward to that though. It's looking like Guido will be running the same tires as the Trooper.
I'm gonna try a whole new strategy with Guido.

Cut down Rock Beast 2's? Mine are reduced to 5.25".

Yes. Cut-n-shut 2.2 Rock Beast 2's. I did two yesterday and they came out to be 5" though. Not sure why they are less than yours but I think some oversize foams and they will be fine.

Guido will also be getting Wraith axles and the coil spring suspension will go away. Surprisingly the Wraith axles and cut-n-shut tires only add 1/2 inch to the overall width so they still look pretty good.

Since stability has always been Guido's downfall I am going to go after that as best as I can. Guido was designed around 5" tall tires, as tires got bigger Guido had to sit higher to clear them, because of the full body, resulting in a high CG. With the shorter tires Guido can sit lower and combined with the extra width hopefully be more stable. At Red Rocks stability will be a huge factor.

The coil springs have always been tough to deal with so by going to coil overs I hope to get the suspension more predictable and tunable. When I put coil overs and a sway bar in the rear the handling improved immensely. I'm also going to try your trick of running an internal shock spring to control the droop.

Default Guido: Scale TTC Bronco 2013 Updates

The tires are looking good. They are coming out to be 5" tall but with some oversize foam they stretch out to 5.25".

Since I bought a snowmobile a couple weeks ago and still have some work to do to my truck I am going to have to work with a limited budget to get ready for Rocky Mountain Scale Nationals.
The 2.2 Rock Beast II's were sent to me by PitBull a while ago and the 1.9 Vanquish OMF's were pulled off the 1.9 Wraith my wife drives. She was not super happy about it but when I suggested I'd buy Guido new wheels she agreed. Haha

Really liking the look so far.

That looks GREAT! I didn't know you were making it a 1.9

A great start to a needed rebuild. Can't wait to see your progress.

Thanks Tim. I'm working on springs to get the ride height down a bit more as well.

Yep. I felt the best way to accomplish all my goals was to go 1.9.

Rear sway bar mount is done. These Axial sway bars really do work with a bit of tuning.
I take a file and make a larger flat spot to soften it up a bit.

I'm still working out the front suspension and ride height. Belly clearance is looking like it will be about 2.75" though.

Here is a shot in the shop.

I made a stainless tie rod. I am waiting for the Vanquish panhard mount to make the panhard bar, then I will make the drag link.

I see no rear steer what's your plan of attack? Do you have room for a dig.

Just waiting on parts to install the rear steer. I have packages coming from Holmes Hobbies and RPP that should be here by Tuesday or Wednesday.

Looking great Chris! What glue did you use for your tires? I had a heck of a time getting most glues to stick.

Guido is looking as killer as it always has. I like how you did the sway bar on the rear. Good luck with the rear steer I had to modify the rear of my chassis to clear the servo when I swapped to my 7954 from my solar servo that I originally had on it and still havent got it exactly right.

Hanks Tim.
I started out using Gorilla glue but it wouldn't set up so I went to Hobbytown and picked up a bottle of the medium gap filler and a bottle of the rubber toughened IC-2000. I use the clear gap filler to stitch the seam together then go back and use liberal amounts of the IC2000 to fill it all in. This has worked well in the past and seems to be holding these tires together well.

Thanks man. I shortened the wheelbase and it looks like the servo will fit right up between the rear frame tubes. I am building a cargo box in the rear to hide the ESC and will just leave an opening in the bottom for the servo to go up into it. The RPP package is at the Post Office so I will find out very soon if this will work.

My Holmes Hobbies package arrived today! Woohoo!
Can't wait to try out the new ESC. Gotta tear it open and waterproof it first though.
