Arrow What do you aim for on your 2.2 scale ?

What i mean is here in Norway the 2.2 scale is trying to keep it as close to a real car as you can.

Not cutting the body - tyres must fit into the body and stuff like this, i guess you guys know what i mean.

So what do you aim for ?

That's the basic idea. For me, if I've seen it on a real truck it's fair game. Agressive cutting of fenders is common, so fair game. The new 54" boggers make 2.2 swamp dogs more realistic. Even rear steer, saw a vid on youtube of an s10 on 37-39 with full body and rear steer. That's just my opinion though. Some are probably more conservative, they usually build 1.9s.

For my 2.2 trucks I aim for a little bit more performace then looks. The 2.2 tires are never the right scale anyways. I save super scale for 1.9's. I prefer a 2.2 scale truck to be something I can beat on.

I personally am more partial to the scalers and typically go for something that resembles an everyday driver with a bit of hardcore wheeler thrown in for good measure.

Nice pics C63 ... those look very much like the 2.2 scales we aim for over here, but sure we have 2.2 unlimited too that you may build like you want just keep the 2.2 tyres + 12,5" WB.

Very nice pics indeed.

I do really like the realistic looking trucks. But don't go easy on the hardcore. Half the fun is buiding "beater" bodies and wild cages that I don't have the $$ or balls to pull off fullsize. No shelf queens for me. I agree if it's on a 1:1 then it's fair game.

I 2nd Dean opinion, I like building something that you can see at the gas station on the way to the trail.

I know when I build something, I usually try to add a details or features that separate my builds from others. Most of the time it is a really elaborate detailed interior

I like to build stuff that could still be driven on the street if the cops are nice but isn't necessarily street legal. While I like to see the daily driver rigs, my personal preference is to build hardcore stuff you'd see being trailered but built well enough that it could still be street driven.

My friend Marlon's 1:1 Jeep: 112" WB, full hydro steering, 42" IROKs, custom 4links f/r. It sees lots of trailer time but still gets driven to trails on occasion.

Guido was built with the same idea in mind. This is how I would build my 1:1 Bronc if I decided to turn it into a buggy and not leave it a Bronco.

Grizzly, you got a build thread on the Bronco? I think that thing is amazing, it's one of my favorite rigs here. I saw it over on Scale 4X4 as well, I voted for it for the contest over there. Really nice work.

I agree with Mnster 1.9 is for scale which is about preformance and so much more about detail and modeling skills. Then 2.2 is all about preformance lookin good is not a big focus. In fact looking to good at a crawling event is considered a negative. Battle worn and beat up is very popular. Competitive crawling is just that all preformance apperance is definatly second if at all.

I see your point here but ..... and yes it is an but here
Here in Norway we have 2 classes: 2.2 scale + 2.2 unlimited ... so what you mean here is what i wanna put into the unlimited class.

But then again ... you guys may not have 2 classes in US ?

Almost every club I know has a 2.2 Comp class. Scale class can be split up into 2.2 and 1.9 but it isn't in alot of clubs.

every scale accessory i add, has to have function for me....

i will not add some blankets in the back if im not going to use them.

Ill have lights so that i can ride in the night, bumpers to protect the body, a winch to haul it up, a spare tire incase i need it, and i have recently added a toolbox in the bed of my truck BUT which has a use, it actually contains spare screws and nuts incase i loose some, and i also have tools to repair my truck, its all scale but fully functional,

anyone feel like me?

Yea, it's too bad that 2.2's don't look scale.

Exactly. Some bodies don't look scale with 2.2 wheels and tires. But, full sized 1/10th and 1/8th scales bodies look scale with them.

That's what I keep sayin too brutha. It all depends on the size (scale) of the body as to what looks scale.

I cain't believe you have Losi Claws on your scaler!!
