Talking Project: Boggers & Rocks!

Well, obijuan inspired me with that pic in his poll, so here's my mudmobile build.

DISCLAIMER: PLEASE READ! I know these aren't Boggers! I have a set of RC4WD 2.2 Mud Slingers coming. Please don't be a tard and say something about the mockup tires

Trail Beater chassis (one of the prototypes with a 12.5 WB), Pro-Line '07 Silverado body for now, although I think a '73 F-250 would fit the theme better. I'll scratch one up once I get the chassis rolling Jugg2 axles and tranny, servo mounts used as tranny mounts, dual 540's, hi-clearance links (3-link for now, I'm out of threaded rod and so is the LHS), chassis-mounted servo, and the "other half" of my hybrid RC4WD beadlocks. Might keep the winch, might not.

Blah, blah blah, pics!

I like the aluminum axle mounts. The proline chevy long bed fits a 12.5 wb real nice. With the twin motors and the juggy axles its gonna be a HOSS

They're way wider than TLT's, even wider than Wheely King axles. Probably an inch and a half wider than TLT axles, maybe even two. I'll measure 'em up for ya.

The link mounts came with the used axles, I don't know who made them but they are hella sweet. The Jugg used leaf springs so there's no triangulated 4-link mounts on the axles, but with 2 links inside the frame and 2 links outside, the axles are pretty well located. I'll know for sure once I get the fourth links made. Might have to put Panhards on.

EDIT: with the RC4WD rims, they're 12 inches wide.

Those of you with sharp eyes will have noticed there's only 3 knuckles on the axles; one of them was broken when I bought 'em. Replacements are on the way, as well as more threaded rod (ordered a bulk pack since I use so much of the stuff).

Picked up a 645 to steer the thing and figured out how I'm gonna mount it. Stay tuned

Servo is mounted, using an MSD servo plate Notice the tape; I'm trying to mudproof everything as much as possible.

All the electronics are in, and working. Decided to go AM on this one, since I've got a few extra $4 receivers around. No need to waterproof those

It's a runner!

And much more stable than I thought. Even with two motors and the battery mounted up top, it doesn't want to roll over at speed. Guess the 12-inch width has something to do with that There's plenty of power on tap, and the Rooster never even got warm

I changed the front springs and added a track bar to improve steering. Today it's going out to Nelson in search of mud

Negative on the mudquest We're in the middle of a drought here, I haven't mowed the lawn in over a month. The next GTG is in Akron, at a location known to be soupy, so I have high hopes.

The RC4WD boggers should have shipped today, so I'll be ready when the mud comes.

That looks SAWEET.

Remind me when I send Tubli Kahn back to include a Production Trail Beater chassis with it as thanks for all the feed back you provided me while testing #2 for me. TB Long or short your pick.
