Default R2 Tranny recommended pinions

I am setting up a 2.2 with WK axles, jpcustoms shocks, custom delrin chassis and links with a 12.25" wb on a 60/40 setup. I will be running the R2v2 with an axiom 55T motor and EVX (for now, MOPED soon) ESC.

My question is for those of you running a 2.2 with R2 and 55T motor, what pinion are you running and are getting the best performance from? I plan on trying an 8 tooth and 13 tooth but if someone recommends something from personal experience I'd like to know your results.

I searched for quite a while and only found that 8-13 can be used. I also found the complete R2 gearing list but was hoping to hear from you all with real experiences.

Thanks.

I had an R2 in my 2.2 with WK axles and ran a 13tooth, wheels speed still seemed a little to slow. i was acctually gonna try a 15 tooth.

I would suggest the 8t pinion on 9-12 cells.

12t on 8 cells was pretty good, but a little slow for a trail type rig IMO.

9-12 cells? What kind of ESC's are you using to handle that many cells. I currently have a stock WK ESC but I have a MOPED on the way.

I run a 16t with 8cells and a 55t. Great wheel speed and good low end. I might go to 15t though because I don't really need quite so much wheel speed. I have one of the original R2's and had to grind the opening to get the 16t in there. I don't know if the newer ones are the same.
