Well i knew it was going to happen sooner or later. It's a sad day for Joe and I as we both decided that it is time to part with the old willys. Joe is looking for a more military stock Willy's and this one is has to much done to take it back.

We are keeping the drive train and i have another clean body to put on the chassis so the plan is to blast the body and frame then sell it as a chassis and body.

before we began Joe wanted to sit in it one last time so i snapped a couple pics for old time sake and to show everyone how beat this last body was

Then it was time to start tearing it apart. we started with the electricals

Wow this thing had a lot of wires!

Joe dug into it right away

pretty soon he was pulling out the vitals

then came the interior

then it was time to remove the cage

Ok Joe, enough goofin around and get back to work.

Then out came the winch

and it was time to unbolt and remove the body

Are you sure you don't need a hand Joe?

I guess not! he's such a showoff.

anyways with the tub removed it was time to strip the chassis

got the wheels off

Unbolted and pulled the tranny

Of course Joe had to do it himself.

Then it was the shocks

Axles

and lastly the T-case

There it is the chassis stripped and ready to be blasted. Finally it will get the new body and then time to sell.

It kills me to see her go being that it was the first scratch chassis i ever built but I guess you can't keep things forever.

You should try and fill the Jerry can with water so when it gets punctured you can see it leak lol

Well since i couldn't sell the jeep i decided to rebuild it and put it back into service.

I started by chopping off all the original cross members

Now the original TLT axles are under my Toyota so i acquired a set of Axial axles and decided to put them under the jeep. To do that i made up a set of 3 link trusses

I wanted to keep them tight to the axle and they came out pretty good.

then i did a mock-up with new wheels and tires

I was looking at the front stinger and realized the new winch would not fit

so off it came

then i made up some frame extensions and a new bumper

welded on the extensions

then cleaned them up and added the bumper

then for the links i got some Revo rod ends, 8-32 threaded rod, and 1/4" tubing.

Here it is with some stock AX10 shocks.

It's a bit high but Joe is still happy with the progress

Once i get all the weight on the truck i'll play with springs but at least it's a roller.

more later.
