Hopefully i'll have it ready for the next scale comp Walt

I had made progress weeks ago but haven't had the time to update the thread. So here is some more.

Once i had it a roller i needed a new Tranny mount for the Axial tranny that is replacing the stampede one.

Then i needed a skid for the Disruptor T-case that is now going in it.

Here is how it mounts in the chassis

Then i test fitted the tranny

the drive angles look pretty good as well

next was steering. I started with some brackets folded and tapped

and mounted them to the chassis

I have some bump steer with the draglink angle but i can deal with it for now.

I also picked up some used Boggers and aluminum wheels

With the New shoes and the drive train installed i threw the old body back on it and took it for a few test runs.

And one torturing the dog just for fun

I have more that i'll post up later. Enjoy!

Ha Ha! ya, Boxers make for great vids

Ok, i'm way behind updating this. Here is more progress.

happy with how it ran, i turned my attention back to the cage. I never liked how the rear bars were

so i chopped them off and welded plates to them

then moved them onto the fenders

eventually they will have supports under the body to the frame.

next i added a plate for the winch

And fully TIG'd it in place

the aluminum fenders were getting trashed to quickly, and knowing the jeep was going to be heaver then before, i decided to add tubing to the fenders. to prepare for this i trimmed the lip off

then i bent up a new radiator hoop

and tacked it into place

next was the tube fenders and sliders

with the front tacked up i move to the back. I decide to stick with the boggers but being so big i needed to extend the radius of the fenders, so with a little trim and some shaping i got the clearance i needed.

now it was time for a bumper. I started with a split piece of 1/2" square tube and beveled the ends

and tacked it in place

lastly i needed a spare tire mount. I wanted it to be simple and strong so i attached it to the cage with a cross bar and of course attached it to the bumper to make it legal

More later

Thanks.

Finally got some time for an update.

Something i forgot to show was, with the addition of the cage mods, i also added some bars above the rear fenders

bars inside the door openings which will eventually hold the seats

and finally i added the supports to the rear of the cage to the frame

With the body protection and tire carrier done I needed to find a place for the battery. I eventually plan on running a big motor in this for mudding and to keep the run time i want to use one of my 5000 Mah LiPos. With a pack this big i needed a large space to put it but i still wanted it hidden. To solve this i opted to put it in the cargo area

I added some bars with saddles to support the battery and tied it into the seat bar and the original rear cage mount

the batt fits nice

then to hold it in i drilled and tapped a hole in the tube

slid a 4-40 screw into a short piece of tube fish-mouthed on one end

then added some cross bars

eventually i will add a package tray to conceal the battery

With a comp coming up quickly i threw a quick paint job on the body using my metal flake over black process

but i messed up the clear and ended up with a wrinkle finish. Oh well, it'll do.

then i brazed up all the joints and threw the truck together for the comp

I'll post up later how it did in the comp.
