Default The Mountie

updated pics!! (post#11)

I bought this Mountaineer awhile back and had it on the shelf for too long. Today I took out the vintage Futaba radio gear and the original mechanical speed control. I put in some modern radio gear and a TR2 and figured this thing needed to go for a spin.

This rig has hardly been driven, the stock motor is not even broke in I think. I also got the original tires off it with no problems and took off the roll bar, front bumper thing and the side bars that are stock on a Mountaineer.

I ran a pack through it today and drove it for the first time myself. It was a blast. I did some mild wheeling with it and some mild crawling. What the heck, every RC no matter what it is needs to go for a drive once in awhile.
This is my $1200 scaler.
Here are some poser pics once the battery died today.

You weren't lying!!!!!!:-P:-P
Once you get over the first couple of scratches, it won't hurt as much, right?
Mountaineer looks good with the losi's on there.

Thanks man, it is cherry and I have only drove it twice very nicely.

When I bought it, I got the box, the manual, the original Futaba radio gear of the period made in Japan. I also got the Ni cad rechargeable batteries for a receiver pack and the transmitter radio battery. All the radio gear works and is put away.

Now you can see why I dropped the coin I did. It is sitting on the shelf again, waiting for another spin around the block someday.

At our last scale comp, I was asked to bring the Mountaineer out for some pics. Here are a few pics smr4runner took this week end. I reinstalled all the factory bumpers and such to bring her back to it's glory. I also took off the Claws and put on some Flatirons. I have the stock tires too, but they are put away for preservation.

enjoy.

I had 2 other rigs there, the Wreckluse and the Hilux HL. The Hilux was just as bad as little Ronda in the background.

and yes the Mountie is a self queen/mall crawler.
