If your rig is at the top of it's scale game, you should have damn near -25 scale points., the max for this event. If you do or think you do, post up a pic of your rig RTR and let's see what a possible winning truck looks like."thumbsup"

I will start, Rbgerrish is at the top of his game this year and his rigs could be on the podium.

this is the type of stuff you are after.

So, what do you think my Tow Truck would score on the scale points? It's a little weird, and doesn't fit all the criteria. I'm thinking with all the hand built stuff that it will score right up there with the best. I will have the Tow Truck there, but won't be competing with it, I'll have the flatbed for the actual competition. So I'm supposing that I'll be scored for the exact truck that I'll be competing with, right?
I'd better get going on the scale accessories.

Question on rules for scale items. For items #4 or #5 do you get 1 point for any or do you get 1 point for each item, with the max of 5 like it states in the pdf file rules. I'm at 24 with no additional adds from either 4 or 5 but if you get up to 5 points per different type of item I'm more then good.

1. Hard body -5
2. Leaf sprung, 1 axle -2, both axles -5
3. Trailer " must be towed during entire comp " -5
4. Cooler, sleeping bags , tent, camping gear -1
5. Shovel , axe, hi-lift jack, tools, tamiya wrench, pick, jerry can -1
6. Spare tire, looks only -1
7. Spare tire" functional " -3
8. Winch for looks only -1
9. Winch functional - 3
10. Led's of any kind, must be functional during comp -2
11. Tow strap, d-rings, snatch block -1
12. Bumpers, front -1 , rear -1, both -3
13. Tube frame, exo cage, tube bed, must be made of METAL -3
14. Roof rack, ladder rack, headache rack, must be made of metal -2
15. Boat or canoe, must be removable -3
16. Realistic interior -2
17. Un-modded OEM tires -3
18. Chassis mounted steering servo -5

" Max deduct points per rig is 25 "

As a club looking at a scale class there is push back on giving to many deduct points. But I'm of the opinion that, that's how it should be done you need the deduct points for encouraging exceptional realism.

IMO we have a class for that already 2.2 comp trucks, this is a scale class and should be about both preformance, overall appearace and details. I respect and enjoy both. The US Tamiya Nationals should have the highest standards for scale rigs, and the deduct point system is a great way to encourage and reward detail and preperation. It's being done very well.

I was really wanting to go to this , so I started this build. I have a step son in Helena and it woulda worked out good to go. He joined the Marines and all of the spots are gone now , so I guess I'll just stay home and build another truck. I think I could max out on points with this one.

So why don't you go and see your son and bring your rigs. You could come and watch and run Friday night and Sunday. Or there might be a no Show.

Hrrrm...

Wonder what I can get together.

The Cherokee is at an easy -25.

But for the 2.2...I see that hard bodies get -5, but what if the body is sheetmetal and it's attached to a tube frame?

If its bigger than Ralph then steel toes is DEFINATELY a must.Shin guards wouldn't hurt either! Think they should be manditory!
I now have Red Wings with steel toes just in case you bring Ralph with you the next time you come to FL.After feeling the earth shake when Ralph hit the rocks the last time you brought him I just wanted to be prepared."thumbsup"

Am I the only one that isn't really racking up points?

Maybe I'm adding wrong, or not counting stuff I should, but one of my rigs only added up to -6

naa its not just you, my 2.2 wont have many negative points either, but my 1.9 should max out or come close.

On your Blazer I count:
functional spare tire: -3
LED's: -2
Bumpers front and rear: -3
Tube bed: -3
Realistic interior: -2
Unmodded OEM tires: -3
Chassis mounted steering servo: -3

Total: 19
Not bad, I'd add a winch though. That'll be -3 more and it'll help alot in the comp. Zip tie some tools or camping gear in there and you'll be at -25 pretty easy.

On your K30 I'm only seeing about -6 like you said.
My 1.9 won't be maxed out, I'm looking at about -15 to -17.

If I put a canoe on the Cherokee I'm at -29. Without it I'm at -26 and I'm not even counting all the extra stuff that's mounted on the rack other than the spare tire. The two fuel cans, the hi-lift, sand ladders, and shovel aren't counted.

It doesn't have the exo or any of that cool stuff, just basic things:

-5 hard body
-5 chassis mounted steering servo
-3 front/rear bumpers
-3 functional spare tire
-3 working winch
-3 stock tires
-2 d-rings (-1 each)
-2 metal roof rack

-3 canoe

...and Ben, here's the 2.2

She's torn apart, getting beefy link mounts installed, cleaned, then off to powdercoat.

The frame is 21 inches long so she's a land yacht.

I'm thinking I'll keep the hood lexan but change the rest to sheetmetal so it'll sound better on the rocks.

Although you probably won't hear the metal mashing against the rocks over the sound of the engine.
