View Full Version : A question about what to run

If I remember correctly from the first meeting we are going to run a super class and a 2.2 class. Since I am a rookie at the comp thing here is my predicament. I have a K2-3S trail chassis with TLT axles, an AX-10 and a semi complete Rockbull chassis on stock Clod axles. I was wondering which truck/axles would be best for each class.

Will the AX-10 be able to run in the super class or should I stick with the Rockbull/Clod axles and series 40 rims?

Will the K2-3S, which I think is more of a scale setup, be able to run with the 2.2’s?

Any comments and or thoughts would be great.

Our classes are the same as they are nationaly, with a few exceptions. Your K2 is a scale chassis I think so that would be in a scale class, although I don't think anyone would complain about entering in the 2.2 as well as long as you didn't mind loosing. Just kidding, Your AX10 is definitly in the 2.2 class. and your rock bull could fall either way depending on how the rig was built, ie; longer than 12.5" wheelbase and a few other variables. You should check the compitition section for the excact rules and reg's. We are going to try to adhear to them as close as possible.

Ok you really have 3 classes I see...

AX10 in stock form is a great 2.2 Truck. Mine is very close to stock and performs well. Won the final Comp of 2007 with it even.

Rock Bull...don't know much about it but toss the Clods on it and Super Class there you go.

The K2-3S is a good chassis. You can use it in the MiRCa Scale class, or throw good axles, do a bit of work on shocks and links and it too is a good 2.2 performer.

Personally I'd run the AX10 as a 2.2, the Rock Bull as a Super, and the K2-3S as a Scaler.

Bob, run your axial in the 2.2 class and throw some clod axels under that rockbull for a super. And leave your scaler as a scaler. It's all good ;-)

Darren

P.S. if you need any help at all let me know

So what would my Rock Rider be, a 2.2 or a scaler?

I would assume my NN clod goes in super, and my ax-10 and GC chassis with poulsons would be 2.2's. Just don't know where the R.R. fits in?

The rock rider chassis is a 2.2 competition Tuber chassis. ;-)

Be competetive. Just run what you think will win. Don't beat youself up about this. Your going to have to check the offical rules in the "Competition" section of this forum and then look at your rigs and classify them by those standards. To give you an idea of what I mean imagine if your NN clod rig had 2.2 size tires, a wheel base of 12.5" and wasn't more than 12.5" in track width you could enter that in the 2.2 class then you could change the tires to a 40 series and Compete in that class as well! I'm not sure if that configeration would be very good but you could do it. I'm going to post the link to the rules here so check them out. I know that some of them seem confusing but I believe that this club is "open" to inturpitation. It's the .pdf file but you should be able to get the picture.

Yeah, I got what I wanted, not because it would fit into one class or another...when I started, there weren't any comps in MI:shock:, I was just sick of the maintenance on my nitros and ready for something different. Now that there are more crawlers in MI, I guess I get to have a little fun and figure out which of my rigs is the most competitive"thumbsup"

Need to stretch this one back out to 18", it doesn't look right to me at 17"

And this one is gonna be sporting full droop to bring the ride height down as soon as I get my replacement axleshafts from RC4WD

Now I just need to get some pics of my AX-10

Diesel, You got yourself some sweet looking rigs there buddy. And Neil's right drive them all, then figure out which one you like best. Your super is at an average wheel base, most guys are running between 16 to 17 1nch wheel base on there super, seems to be the norm. ;-)

Most groups will not let you swap 2.2/1.9 tires and run in two classes
