INSTOCK NOW
(NEW DESIGN, now machined down from 3/8 delrin) CDW Delrin skid plates (NEW DESIGN) for double triangulation, we offer a stock replacement skid plates as well as the narrow version(55mm) skid Plates. The skid Plates are CNC milled from 3/8 delrin. They come with all hardware needed.Cost is $14+$2 shipping to the USA.
See how far forward I put the Tranny holes, keeps the weight as far forward as possible and you have clearance for the dig and cobalt motor also. The rear links clear the dig and cobalt motor on the stock truck at full flex but its close. So if your truck lower than stock, just make a spacer from your old skid plate, like the spacer in the pic.If you do need to add the spacer you need to buy longer tranny bolts. The truck in the pics is NOT running the spacer.
This skid also works without the dig with stock drive shafts, I recommend Extended Pede shafts (http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1153728&postcount=31) though.

If that material is thick enough, can you make one of those like CKRC chassis where i can still put the links inside next to the frame but it would be thick enough it wouldn't mess with the new VF dig unit?????? I understand if you don't want to mess with this. I'm not sure on the double triangulation thing yet, still new to all this crawler stuff.

Here is how to extend a pede shaft for people using my skids without a dig.
First buy a Traxxas half shaft pro pack #1953 the left overs will be for spare shafts.
http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w109/yotachump/extendedpedeshaft005.jpg
you will be using 2 female shafts and 1 male shaft.
http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w109/yotachump/extendedpedeshaft013.jpg
Cut the male shaft as close to the yoke as possible. (I should of cut it a bit closer.) than make a mark 3/8" up from the cut end.
http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w109/yotachump/extendedpedeshaft014.jpg
http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w109/yotachump/extendedpedeshaft019.jpg
Cut 3/4" off of the female shaft from the NON yoke end.
http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w109/yotachump/extendedpedeshaft016.jpg
push in the male shaft into the female shaft to your 3/8" mark on the male shaft.(cut end in)than apply lots of CA glue to the and wait to dry.now you have your extended pede shaft.

Received my wide skidplate this morning, and mounted it up on my rockracer/crawler this afternoon. Adding the skid, the upper link mount, and a few tweaks to the front uppers, eliminated all the binding issues I was having with my other custom setup. Articulation is silky smooth now. Nice skid"thumbsup"

hey anthony,
those channels in the new skid would provide a little more clearance, but i still wouldnt ever run a skid like that. it seems like it would get hung up. what about making the skid thicker and grooving out the whole center, that way there is no lip to catch on rocks"thumbsup"

There is really not enough interest and not enough BJ's out there to have me get them made. and If I did a small Quantity run, the prices would be high.
I would groove them, the grooves help hold a line instead of sliding of sideways.

You should probably run the regular lower links, I know they are like 3/8" apart on my truck. Im sure the effect they give is well worth the clearence loss though.

just got mine in the mail yesterday. with bent links they hit the top links. switched to straight lowers.
also, you have to mount the top links in the middle posistion with the lowers in the outside to get an acceptable pinion angle
on a side note, the blemished ones look pretty damn good, the "good" ones must be works of art. and i was suprised they came with hardware too, had a trip planed to the hobby shop, but it wasnt needed

Is there any rational reason why you opt for using 2 Nut/Bolts to hold the lower links in rather than 1 long bolt or all-thread with a spacer tube between the ball ends, or is it just to accommodate people using different types of links/ball ends? It's just I'd opt to do it with one shaft across the whole chassis to prevent me twisting the skid plate up too hard, and to add rigidity to the plate and chassis bottom, as well as lessening the chance of getting something snagged between the bolt ends (unlikely but it could happen :)).

My current rig actually has a nut sticking out of *both* sides as I used allthread, and you are right it can be a problem (not least to tighten up using nylocs!), I've since looked at the detail of the AX-10 chassis and a lot of attention is paid to keeping things flush or low-pro, so I guess the way the CDW hardware works is a better way.

I think you had to dremel some off because the axial slipper has a ton of play in it. MAke sure it is pushed all the way back, and you should NOT need any dremeling.

I think you had to dremel some off because the axial slipper has a ton of play in it. MAke sure it is pushed all the way back, and you should NOT need any dremeling.
Ya your correct. But i was not pleased with the play in the axial slipper so my way of solving it was to insert two traxxas teflon washers on the slipper shaft behind the cross pin. That took up most of the play. The problem here is the quality of axials slipper assembly not your product. Don't get me wrong i am very pleased with your product. Mabey I missed how to take up the play moving the spur closer to the transmision.

I just got my skid plate installed last night. It's a huge improvement over the Stage 2 setup. I wasn't able to use my bent links with the stock chassis but it still performs a lot better!
For the price, you can't beat this skid plate!
Thanks!
