we may have to make this some kind-a BONUS points for the winner of this event.

be super cool 8) if we can get everyone to show up.
this would be a good chance to have some kind-a club meeting.
see what we can come up with for the club to get bigger & better "thumbsup"

Are You Ready To Rock!?

http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee133/hawerlander/derhawerdoo.jpg

There's less than 2 weeks left before the
1st annual
"der Hawerlander Fest"

Get ready to run whatcha brung,
and lay the hammer down for some
head to head rock racing!!!

Track lay-out is coming along great,
and will change some from this conceptual drawing.
But this will give you some idea as to the basic track design. Many more obstacles will be included in the final lay-out.

http://img2.putfile.com/thumb/6/16613182487.jpg (http://www.putfile.com/pic/8299998)

The stage should be set for some
 full throttle carnage
with obstacles galore, including jumps,
a cross-over table-top, water hazard and more!

We will be running multiple heats through out the day.
And hope to get everyone paired up with someone
else in the same bracket.
Everyone will make 1 lap per round, and then switch to the opposite lane in the 2nd round. Adding the 2 times together for a total qualifying time.

Once the heats are finished, we'll be shooting for semi-finals to determine the top 2 Racers that will make it to the Finals, with a heads up shoot-out determining the winner of the
1st Annual der Hawerlander Fest!

Be there!!!

I think the construction of the course and the food and beverages are being taken care of. But we're still looking for some guys to take care of possible video capture . I know some of you have laptops for downloading the video. And a few of you have some video cameras. There should be plenty of power hook-ups for charging and such.
Any volunteers?

I may be rig-less. If so, I'll shoot video. Just need to get some tapes.

My camera isnt good for action pics and even worse at video. But if someone else has a camera they want used, ill volunteer to take pics and video for the event.

Hey Neal, when can I pick up my transmission? I pm'd you, and tried calling the other day. Im in no rush but would like an idea of when. I may be rig-less. If so, I'll shoot video. Just need to get some tapes.

Yee haw...

If any one else has any ideas of some obstacles,
please feel free to bring them. If so, let us know,
so we can plan the course accordingly."thumbsup"

Count me in to race, probably need to be in the slower division.

RivBlueNomaIs that just tylers 35t warrior and his 3s pack that he normally runs?Nope, that's mine, except a 21t pinion with the 87t spur, 35t and 3s. Might try a smaller spur yet, not sure.
Swapped out to the lighter proline wheels with the Moabs as well.
It's faster, but by no means fast still.
I took the jump back apart to get a little more vert. Because I know most everyone won't be all that fast either. But I still wanted us to be able to catch some air!

Harley0706
What!? No brushless? I guess the 4s will have to do.

Need some more ideas for jumps. Any suggestions or pics? I thought about making one with a gap like at the XRRA race. Kinda like a step-up. Other than that, might just do a couple more regular type of jumps, 8" high or so.
What's up SCG? Your a builder. Surely you've got some ideas."thumbsup"

By the way, Captain Carnage struck again! He broke the RS4 rally (alright, maybe that was me:lol:)and a stock built TLT. Then proceeded to break part of his stretched Pede :lol:.
Ramp specs:
Clearance is 14" under the table-top, 30" wide (both top and thru), 16" high total. Just under 8' long.

And......since they don't have it in stock, you have to prepay and make another trip up to pick it up. At current gas prices it makes it impossible to buy from them. Its only a 10 mile drive from my house, but still talking about $4 a round trip and it requires how many trips because they never remember to order it until they have missed the cut off for that week?
I figured their price for stock knuckles was $14(damn, guess HPI is related to Axial??), TCS aluminum versions were $18 and shippings about $4. Why not upgrade for $4 and shop from home? :D

Alright guys...
T-minus 24 Hrs and counting...

Are you ready?!

The course is shaping up nicely, and should proof to be quite challenging.
Most everything is laid out, and ready to rock!
Jerry should be out there tonite to help Matt H. put on the finishing touches.

The focus for this event is
FUN !!!
But running the Rock Races will have to be somewhat organized.
So...

____________________________
Gates open at 10:00

Track will be open for practice and
Hot Laps from 10:00 - 12:00

After separating everyone into groups, each group will run course 1 or 2. Then when both groups finish, we'll switch to the other lane and add the 2 times together for your qualifying time. Just like we do at our comps now since we've had such a turnout at most of our '08 events. "thumbsup"

Your qualifying time will determine your competitor #,
which will be used for the raffle after the finals, and to set us up in the heats.
I got a couple of giveaways for the event from Hobby Haven and Fastlane Raceway "thumbsup". Along with everyone's discount cards for Hobby Haven, that gave me they're info for them. If you have not, I'll get your info the day of the event.

We'll be running 2 competitors at a time and you'll be competing against the clock. Out of bounds will not be in play except for where the obstacles are located on the course. Which will be clearly marked by flags and ribbon, dividing each lane. If you do go out of bounds on an odd-stacle , the turn marshal's will then place you back at the start of that obstacle to make another go at it.
Course length is approx. 45secs. - 1 min., pending on the speed of your rig.

Qualifying starts at 12:00,
we'll do lunch at that time as well.
(So don't forget something to throw on the grill,
keg's already on ice )

Qualifying will help to pair up folks with similar times, and will set us up for the first round of heats.

We'll run 3 rounds of heats, allowing you to keep your
best 2 out of 3.

Pending on the turnout, we'll then start the semi-finals.
(probably the top 4 or 6 competitors)

That will lead us to a Finals
between the top 2 competitors for a feature event of the entire course. Running both courses back to back to determine the winner!

Hoping for a big turnout, and maybe even a few out-of-towners.

So gear up, hammer down,
and we'll see YOU at...

Thanks to everyone that came to the GTG. I will get some vids up soon. What a turn events that the race turned into a pit game and put all our wrenching to the test. And right out the gate the Captain runs brake free and smokes us . how cool was that."thumbsup"

Alright, here ya go guys! My barely capable computer did it's best to bring you this raw, uncut footage of all of us actin' a fool! It's 16mins. long , so... Enjoy!

Click here to watch Rock-Race (http://media.putfile.com/Rock-Race)

Thanks Matt, for letting us tear up your backyard! I think we all had a really good time!

Is this another 1st for KCRC? First was the Live coverage of The Midwest event, and now coverage of a new style of event. I know I've seen plenty of, "here, look at my new rock racer I just built", but never an actual rock race.

Thanks for the video Matt, it was fun to watch even in raw format. Might have to get that file from you for a few clips out of it.

I think I have seen a couple videos of people putting on organized rock races before, but no matter what we need to do it again! I am going to have a hard time convincing myself to take the 27t out of my rig now
