Crawler Design Works - 4130 chromoly - 6mm outputs for the Axial transmission, they have no flat spots, just a pin hole for revo and maxx yoke pins. The spur gear side output was lengthened so that the yokes will clear the spur gear. I lengthened the other output a little so that I could taper back to the bearing. Also the bolt flanges are thicker.SOLD OUT price is $38 plus shipping

Any chance of just offering just one side? I have a 4X2 baja truck. Also might be handy for the folks with VF dig units. Or people who only want to upgrade the rear shaft for strength or custom digs. Also why is one longer then the other? I have a hard enough time craming the large maxx shafts between two axles.

Nice work though, these look great."thumbsup"

Do you guys want these Black oxide coated? Or you just want to spray paint them? If you want them Black oxide coated, it will be another week:x,But will be no extra charge for the coating:lol:.I am going to do all of them or none of them on the coating, not just a couple. Let me know what you guys want.

Also Black oxide does not offer very good corrosion resistance. I think paint will do better. But its up to you guys.

I wanted to put together a list of parts that make this a MAXX shaft bolt-together operation, so far I have the following, let me know if I've missed anything:

Qty-Description--------------------------------------------------------Part#----Tower#----cost ea---total
1x---Crawler Design Works - 6mm outputs --------------------------------------------42.00---42.00

2x--HPI Differential Final Gear Set Nitro RS4 MT---------A855----LXTB48-------5.79--11.58
2x--HPI Gear Shaft 5x6x29mm Wheely King--------------86810---HPIC8810----7.69--15.38

2x--Traxxas Diff Output Yokes w/Screw Pins 2.5 (2)---4928X----TRAC4929--4.79----9.58
1x--Traxxas Half Shafts Long T-Maxx (2)-------------------4951X----LXSP55------7.69----7.69

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Grand Total $88.23
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------plus S/H

Also, I would like to try to run a 96t Spur "because I can", is the WK Spur compatible with the Axial tranny? Are there any other options? Will the Kimbrough Differential gear work?

Please inform me of any omissions/corrections. Cheers.

Can't we put the Axial pinion on the WK input shaft (posted Tower link)?

area51caraudio

NO, The axial pinion uses a cross pin, the wk shaft has two flat spots on either side and the pinion gear matches, with no cross pin or hole drilled in it for one

After thinking about it yesterday, why can't I just drill a hole in my axial diff outputs? I figure that they're steel or hardened steel, so I might have to use a cobalt steel bit, but it saves on parts. From all that I've read, it looks like the T-Maxx tranny outputs are 5mm, so the parts list would be as follows:

Qty-Description---------------------------------------------------Part#----Tower#----cost ea---total
1x---Crawler Design Works - 6mm outputs --------------------------------------------42.00---42.00

TRAXXAS PARTS
1x--Diff Output Yokes w/Screw Pins 2.5 (2) [6mm]-----4928X----TRAC4929--4.79----4.79
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0095p?FVPROFIL=++&FVSEARCH=4928X&search=Go
1x--Trans Output Yokes T-Maxx 2.5 (2) [5mm]-----------4927X----LXDDT2------5.79----5.79
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXDDT2&P=ML
1x--Traxxas Half Shafts Long T-Maxx (2)-------------------4951X----LXSP55------7.69----7.69
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0095p?FVPROFIL=++&FVSEARCH=LXSP55&search=Go
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Grand Total $59.37
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------plus S/H

This will leave my better able to afford the HPI HD gears, which give you a 1pc diff pinion/shaft combo with a hole.

The axial diff input does have a flat, so it should be easy to center and drill. I'll let you know what size when I assemble all the pieces.

To recapitulate: use the diff output yokes on your new cro-mo CDW outputs, drill the axial diff pinion shafts for the center pin for the transmission output yokes, add shafts, and voila! indestructable diff output and cheap, strong, lightweight shafts. Priceless.

Phatmac, The only spurs that I have found to work are the kimbrough spurs for traxxas vehicles and I believe the biggest is an 87 tooth 48pitch (at least that's all I could find) - if anyone knows of any other spurs that willl work - please chime in

This is why we need to support our LHS. I went in and told Luke at my local Hobbytown that I needed a big spur. From reading the forums I knew the Traxxas/Kimbrough spurs fit, and after clarifying that they were indeed 48 pitch, he handed me a 93 and 96 Kimbrough gear. I bought the 96 after comparing the holes to the 87t traxxas spur, and it works!

The part I got was Kimbrough #142 96 Tooth 48 Pitch Precision gear, and it set me back $4.00.

I installed in on my Axial without the rear driveshaft, (it rubs the stock yoke--can't wait until my new outputs come).

With my 55t integy and a 12t Robinson Racing pinion, and my 7 cell NiMH split pack, it tops out a whopping 2 mph, covering 10 feet every 3 seconds!

I'll post pics with the outputs and the 96t spur when I put it all together.

Yes, I guess I am using what Phatmac listed...
-Maxx shafts (TRA4951X)
-Maxx trans. yokes (5mm) (TRA4927X) (for axial diff. outputs)
-Maxx diff yokes (6mm) (TRA4928X) (for CDW 6mm trans. outputs)
8)

As promised here's a pic with the outputs and the 96 tooth Spur. Lots of room. I drilled out the 6mm Traxxas yokes with a 15/64 drill--this removed the internal flat spots and allowed for a good press fit.

I just mocked it up so all the spacers aren't there for for the motor plate, and the set screw/shafts aren't screwed in on the Traxxas parts, but you get the idea.

I am amazed at how nice these outputs are, the threads are perfect and went together with the stock gear and screws as good if not better than the factory parts. Beautifully designed Anthony, and very nicely machined.

110% satisfied :)

Pede females doubled up in the front and a steel shaft in the rear. My dig set up is built around Pede shafts,so I need to stick with that size. I used to twist off 2-3 rear shafts every comp. I built some steel shafts and don't break that anymore. Could put Revo's up front, but then I'd break something else. Shafts and spurs are cheap easy fixes,so I'll keep my fuse at my front shaft or the spur."thumbsup"

Anthony, I got my outputs a week or so ago and I've got to say although the service and the workmanship was great, i'm a little upset cause the long side rubs where my upper links are mounted to my chassis, now I have to design a new chassis"thumbsup":!: damn"thumbsup":!: oh well - unless there is a way that i could buy just a short side to replace the long side (not sure which oine is threaded cause there already installed)see below:

Both sides are 6mm. The spur side is just longer to push the yoke away from the spur"thumbsup" Thats really only needed though if guys gear down or run stock gearing. An 81t spur will clear a Revo yoke flat up against the tranny."thumbsup"

Flat spots not really needed since theres a hole for a cross pin."thumbsup"

Hey man got a question for you.... I'm getting a DNA dig on my axial tranny but I like to run allot of gear and I'd love to run the longer front output you have.... One issue is I'd like it in a smaller 5mm out like the vf dig is so I can run the same kind of shafts front and rear. Any plans of making a longer stock sized front output that would work with the DNA rear half? Thanks I see this has been brought up but I never saw answer. Thanks

For the axle end (pinion shafts) you can use a WheelyKing pinion gear and pinion shaft.
The WK outputs are 6mm and have a hole for the screw-pin8) It's a simple drop-in upgrade... and a huge improvement"thumbsup"

Can you produce just the front output in this order?
I have three rear outputs and only one front. I would be interested in at least one, possibly two front out puts. These are the best outputs on the market. I am glad to see you are making more"thumbsup".
