View Full Version : NEW K2-6 6x6 Scale Chassis...

Reign RC is proud to release one of the first production 6x6 chassis's to the crawling market.

The K2-6 chassis is designed to fit the needs of those of you wanting to build a 6x6. The design allows a builder to mount any of the Tamiya Tractor cabs or Bruder MAN/Actos cabs. The shark fin on the back makes it easy to 4 link all 3 axles, but if you prefer to leaf or make a walking beam setup you can easily cut off the fin and work from there.

The chassis is based off the K2-5 chassis platform. The width is 3 1/8", the length is 21.5".

I may offer in the near future link sets, however I am still working out the details. They will be 3/16" diameter, fit the revo rod ends and will come in stainless. More to come shortly.

These will be made in a very limited run (similar to the K2-4 chassis's). This initial batch will sell for $75.00 + $8.00 shipping via USPS Priority Mail.

I only have 8 left after filling all the pre-orders, so get them while there available ;-)

I apologize for the bad image. They just arrived today to this is a quick and dirty pic "thumbsup"

I'll link several builds tomorrow morning so that you can see how they build-up.

Thanks!

Those and Fruity Pebbles

When you buy the Semi-Truck cases they come with several halves that allow you to run a pinion on the back side of the TLT axle. I'll see how many I have have and hook you two up if I have another. I think I sent MOCRAWLER my last one (at lease I thought I did). I sent 3 K2-6 chassis's out that day and I must have jacked that up.

I know you can tweak the link length (say that ten times fast!), but what is the approximate distance between the front axle and the number two? I've got an idea using a bullhead body that I'd like to leave pretty much intact, that would be 12-14 inches, which is suspect is a little outside the range of this chassis.

Thanks

Thanks, I'll get the $$ to you today. My mind is a blur from designing a scale looking D90 chassis, so I've lost focus of everything thing else around me.

Didn't get my chassis in this last batch but have started working on mine already. Couple of more parts and some paint to find. Already built two of the three axles, wainting on the semi axle conversion from semijoe. Having fun with this one already."thumbsup" Thanks again kaetwo, SLOB.

as a sidethought guys.....has anyone tried building one of these with the blackwell axles from RC4WD? I'd assume they'd be stupidly easy to come up with a method of running driveshafts for, and I'd hope not too hard to do a links setup either...

I'm seriously toying with the idea of trying to grab one of these chassis and a trio of those axles and try to build me a scale M35 "deuce and a half"
http://www.m35products.com/images/m35turbo.jpg
or a
M977 HEMTT (8x8 cargo truck)
http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/library/policy/army/fm/1-111/Image79.gif
or perhaps go way out there and do a
M1075 PLS Truck (10x10)

here's a crude mock up of my K2-6 chassis.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v231/wjbski/6x6%20scaler/IMG_1536.jpg?t=1256692995

I played with the idea of using TLT axles or Tamiya big Rig axles, but I realized that I couldn't get the kind of detail I want from a scale 6x6 without using a big rig chassis, like some of the great builds over at scale4x4. This K2-6 chassis will make a fun crawler.

I've been watching your build thread, it's coming along very nicely. It was good to read that you had a few of the issues with the rear suspension design that I ran into. It was fun to figure out a way to make everything work.

Here's a pic of mine, it's finally up and running. I have to figure out what kind of body to use.

I sure don't but there may be someone out there willing to part with one.

If I get 5 guys who will pre-pay for one, then I'll have them made up. There $90.00 + Shipping if I make a run of only 5.

BigSki

I actually tried to sell my chassis a few months ago, no one was interested. I couldn't find enough TLT axles to build the chassis, so I was about to give up. After I had no luck I decided to see what I could do w/ ax-10 axles, and I'm glad I stuck with it. The AX-10 axles are cheap to build and they are bullit proof.

One thing I would suggest is a simple mod to the K2-6 chassis. I asked Kaetwo for 2 extra cross members. I added one to the rear of the chassis, just above the 'fin' where the links for the rear axle attatch.

The chassis was too flexy for my tastes before I added the cross member, now it is rock solid. Overall the K2-6 is a great starting point for a really fun rig. The 6x6 is guarenteed to draw attention anywhere it goes!

I couldnt agree with you more.

I would love to see these be a regular inventory item from Reign but i just finished my 6x6 and already have another scaler going so i cant get in on this batch. Reign chassis are really some of the best, hope you get a ton more people into it!"thumbsup"

I've been reading this thread for days, and I just can't resist any longer... I'll be #3. I'm pretty new around here, so please just follow up with me on the details of payment.

Thanks a bunch, I love you're 6x6 and your business sounds great!

P.S. - I can use axial axles with two "input half" axle housings for the middle axle, right?

To be honest, I have never use Axial axles for this type of build. Maybe you can use two pinions with dual outs? Good question.
