My first drive, quick impression

Got a black one from RCP. After looking at it for a day I took it for a quick drive on a pile of rocks in my yard, bone stock. First thing I noticed was that it feels like it needs to be geared lower. I backed off the throttle trim to make it less jumpy, and you definately learn quickly to be really easy on the trigger. I'm used to a mamba max and Integy 55t on my AX10 and I don't expect it to be that smooth but man if this thing had the feel of my AX10 it would be awesome! It's pretty fast and can generate plenty of wheelspeed so gearing it down should help it crawl even better IMO. The chassis felt great! I can't believe how great it works for how small it is, and stock!

I want to add some weight, get some wheels and tires and relocate the battery next.

Oh yeah my tires were not flat spotted at all but the battery cover on the transmiter falls off at the slightest touch.

after reading 3 pages of threads, yours is the first to comment on the jumpy throttle and lack of smoothness. watching the losi videos of it running make it apparent that what your saying is true... i also would want it slower and smoother throttle. well, i bought one for my indoor course i'm building, we'll see if i can make it run as smooth as my ax10... anyone else have any suggestions for this other than messing around with the throttle trim?

im using a dx3r so i simply adjust the exponential settings.

I think Losi makes a programer that might work with the MRC to try different throttle curves. The manual says you can get a 13 tooth pinion. Are these the same as Mini-T pinions?? I'm not sure if a thirteen is going to be enough. Maybe a different motor, esc or try a Dx3 or all of them together!!. I'm kinda surprised too that no one else has mentioned the tall gearing and jumpiness. It's real hard to breakover a hill and controll it cause it gets too much speed then the drag brake kicks in and flops you. Still liking it though!! Anyone else have the loose battery cover on their transmitter?

Finally got some time to take the little crawler apart and do some mods. It didn't take long and I all I had to buy were some 2mm nuts from the hobby shop for 85 cents! I moved the batt to the top of the upper link arm. I cut the stock battery plate in half and mounted the esc on it right over the battery. Flipped the motor and tranny 180. I stuck the reciever to the top of the tranny and all the wires still hook up without having to lengthen them. I moved the shock mounts outward by mounting them to the outside of the chassis plates and then moving the lower mounts to the outside of the stock lower shock mount(second photo has them mounted in stock location) that's what the 2mm nuts were for. I also had a 225 MG laying around that fit right on. Added some weight to the wheels and top of the servo and rear axle and put 60wt oil in the shocks. What a difference! Crawls way better than before with the dropped CG and thicker oil. Moving the shocks lowered it a tad in addition to removing the small preload spacers. Oh yeah and I trimmed the excess off the body mounting posts. I have a 13 tooth pinion on the way. All I need now are some better tires.
