i would guess it would be similar to the ax10 prices. Don't see why it would be any more or less. Basically all the same stuff just in a different form or another.

can we get Axial to confirm what AX-10 drivetrain parts carried over to the new truck? It looks like the axles and tranny are the same, but it would be nice to know fer sure.

i was thinking this same thing.
funny how this happens.

chevy and ford did this with the truck line.

they sold trucks with 16's (wheels)
guys pulled the 16's to put on 20's +

now the trucks come stock with 20's.

go figure.

still a very cool ride, and it's great to see the support from axial.
now how about some accessories ?????

except that the axial is a c-channel chassis instead of just plain plates. The c-channel is a nice scale touch.

Very realistic looks based on the popular AX10 platform
I think that basically says it. (reference the post on the rcc homepage)

I second this! If they be nice, they'll do this :D ...i mean i don't own an ax10 rig but I know alot of people would enjoy a conversion.

We got one of the first pre-production sample parts in! "thumbsup"

The frame is a stamped steel C channel. The steel is more rigid than the original aluminum sample we had for the show truck and is of course laser etched with our Axial logos.

We'll post more when we get new parts in.

same. the body would be cool for an aftermarket body for a custom build, but as the stock body on the production rig, not so much. I mean, how often do you see one of these on the trail? I felt the same way about the ax10 coming with the betty body. A cool body, but not something that would be comp'd in 1:1 lol. The artr body is much more fitting. So maybe when they come out with an artr scx10, it will have a more appropriate and common body.

We just received the next wave of pre-production parts for the SCX10.

As always there are little issues here and there but for the most part they are spot on. The biggest issue is that they didn't quite send enough to assemble anything at this point, so we all have to wait a little.

Here are the latest parts.

Skid plate, and you can see one of the frame cross members on that tree.

Shock hoops

Battery tray holder - this will have an aluminum plate that mounts to the top of it, we wanted it to look like some tube work, and the ends wrap up around to prevent the battery from sliding out. There are also some extra posts included so that you can mount the battery in the front over the radio box or in the back as shown, depending on what body you use.

We just received the next batch of parts, everything is going together really well.

Radio box - this will hold a fairly large receiever so there is plenty of room

Body mount set - these are adjustable so you can control the height of the body and there is also one included that is higher and wider if you want to use SUV style bodies. These will also work to convert your AX10 Scorpion over to top body mount instead of the side

Rear brace set - this was part of the last items we needed to start assembly on the frame

Finally got enough parts in to start my SCX10 build. "thumbsup"

Started with the shocks. Build them basically how you would any standard shock. Install the bottom E-clip onto the shock shaft, drop the shock piston on and snap the 2nd E-clip into place. Lube up the shock shaft O-rings with a little grease, install the first one into the shock body, set the plastic spacer in place, then install the 2nd O-ring and thread the lower cap on. Now slide the shock shaft into place, install the bump stop on the shaft, snap the ball stud into place, thread the rod end onto the shock shaft and install the pre-load collar onto the shock body. Fill the shock with oil, cycle the shock a few times making sure you let any air bubbles dissipate, install the O-ring in the shock cap and thread it onto the shock body. Using the supplied 2mm cap head screw attach the shock reservoir to the shock cap. Install the shorter spring first, then the spring retainer, then the longest spring and finish it off with the lower spring retainer. 8)

If you mount the battery in the back, those clips hold the wires from the battery to the ESC. Keeps them routed down and away from any moving parts. "thumbsup"

One question though. So much thought and time went into this design, but why not mount the servo on the frame if axial is truely going for an out of the box scale rig?

Awesome... just awesome. I agree about the rock rings, would rather have silver or black, but everything else about this whole setup is perfect!

I think a lot of hobbyists have been waiting for years for a truck like this to be released: kit, realistic, functional, detailed, decent pricing. While Tamiya has released some great semi-scale kits, their pricing is too far off.

I can't wait to get my hands on one! Keep up the great work Axial!

Yup, 11 1/2" wheelbase. "thumbsup"

We put these scalers through quite a bit of abuse this weekend, and they work great. The stock spring rates are perfect with the kit supplied 30wt shock oil. The link geometry is spot on. And the Pro-Line 1.9 Flatirons work awesome, best looking/performing scale tire to date IMO. I'll get a few more pics posted of the complete truck ASAP. "thumbsup"

What is the width of the chassis rail to rail?

Rail to rail is 80mm (3.15") at the center and 72.5mm (2.85") at the ends. We pinched the ends to add more realism and to allow for shock clearance at full articulation.

Depending on the kit they come either locked front and rear, or open front and locked rear. But the kit includes a locker to lock the front end too. Either way you are good to go out of the box.

I am not a huge fan of any of the bodies that come with AX10s or otherwise. I think it would have been cool to get scale bodies like that too but then again you can buy plenty of scale bodies so its not like you can't change it. I am still rocking my stock Scorpion body as my beater body and I plan on getting a scale body as my "cruising" and shelf body.

Yea i second that. A truck body like the one offered on the scx10 can only look cool if its painted to look like its been sitting in a field for the past 40yrs IMO haha. Rusted and beat to death. I plan on puttin a yota body on mine when i get it and make a replica of my old truck...

For those of you wondering about alternate scale bodies, I made a few measurements and looked up some stats.

First, as previously mentioned here, wheelbase of the SCX10 is 11.5", with an overall width of 9" (outer tire to outer tire)

OK, I busted out my Mountaineer (Bruiser) body and was pleased to see the wheelbase (center of wheelwell to center of wheelwell) was right at 11.5", and the overall width of the body is 7 1/2" (fender flare to fender flare) - so the stock SCX tires would only stick out about 3/4" on each side. Pretty much perfect I'd say!

Now, I don't have a Tundra (yet!) but searching the Tamiya website, it lists the Tundra as having a 12 1/4" wheelbase (3/4" longer than SCX10). Overall length is listed as 18 1/4", which is very close to the mountaineer body, so I'm guessing the body width will be close also. From what Bender says, and is pretty obvious from looking at the pics, it should be relatively simple to merely purchase slightly longer suspension links to lengthen the SCX10's wheelbase 3/4" to match the Tundra body! Since we're adding longer links, you could also run longer scale shocks for a "lift kit" as well - I plan to anyway.

Now, Axial / Bender, could one of you measure something for me please? I'd like to know the overall width from outer 12mm hex to outer 12mm hex. I know this would be different from the stock Scorpion, because the hexes are narrower on the SCX10. The reason I ask is I'd like to build a truck with your chassis and use the soon-to-be-released scale Blackwell (2 1/2 ton military copy) axles from RC4WD. I plan on using 2.2 Tires/wheels with a Tundra body. RC4WD specs show the Blackwell axles to have an overall width of 8" from hex to hex.

this would make a great chassis to build a 2.2 scaler on also. are those the stock ax-10 axles? or did you guys build new axles that are narrower?

Stupid question, maybe- What is the shortest wheelbase that can easily be done? This thing would be perfect for my D90 project, but it's kinda short as far as wheelbase.
Selectable diff locks somewhere in the future for Axial?

I noticed that they used a lipo battery that is shorter than a nimh/nicd stick pack, which allowed them to mount the esc on the battery tray.

Is there a place to mount an esc if a person is using a nimh/nicd stick pack?

I'm probably just not seein it or something.

Sorry! I don't mean to post in this thread that much, I'm just excited about this rig. My first scaler! Just pre-ordered it and all elects. from ckrc and towerhobbies.

Nice link with a lot of info but the instructions for download at the buttom of the page does not seem to work and I did try downloading from two different computers.

Something wrong with the pdf-file?

... Still no working .pdf-file (just 5.3 instead of the quoted 8mb) - and an error when trying to download the parts list...

Everything sounds fine. With the 1.9 tires you could even run a 35t to get some wheelspeed but still crawl without any problems. I am assuming the wolfpack is just a 6 cell pack? haven't heard of it.

You can mount the ESC on the backside of the radio box.

Works for me. Can't wait to assemble it! I've never done a kit from scratch. Is it typical that AX80018 Hardware Parts Tree are made of plastic? I thought those parts are metal on my AX10?

So when will the individual parts be available? Like Shocks kits and Frame? Before, same time, or a while after the full kit is released?

You could preorder it online (what I did) or have your local hobby shop have one reserved for you, if they do that?

I haven't found any. It'll be really nice favor if someone would make one!
