MSD is proud to announce the official release of the MOST universal scale chassis kit on the market.
The all NEW MSD " UTE ""thumbsup"
We have been testing and working on this amazing chassis design for almost 1 year. We believe that it is the most " UNIVERSAL " scale chassis to come to market. It can be used with almost any axle combination. You can use Bruiser shackles, hilift/ hilux shackles, stock axial 4 link set up, leafs in front or rear, 4 link in front or rear or a combo of both."thumbsup"
Each chassis size can be altered up to 1.5" of WB in either direction. We did this so that we could accommodate 100's of different aftermarket bodies."thumbsup"
The front shock mounts can be moved to several locations for best axle fit. The rear inboard shock rail can be moved up to 3" to accommodate many wheel bases and bodies."thumbsup"
With 5 different chassis lengths and 4 different suspension options and unlimited axle possibilities, we feel anyone can create an amazing scaler with the " UTE " chassis."thumbsup"
The word " UTE " is a Australian word, meaning Universal. That is the term they use to describe most of their flat bed 4x4 pickup trucks down under. 8)
The Chassis kit comes as basic as 4 cross rails, delrin skid and 2 c-channeled and cnc'd side rails. The whole kit is assembled with 3 mm stainless hardware and is 100% interchangeable front to rear and side to side. "thumbsup"
Options include:
- Scale front or rear upright shock mounts, $15
- Scale inboard rear shock mount, $10
- Scale front bumper " W " style with winch fairlead, $22
- Scale Rear bumper " W " style , $16
All accessories are CNC machined out of aircraft grade aluminum, no plastic parts here"thumbsup"
Chassis sizes and prices:
- 10" WB basic kit, Overall length 14" 7/8" , $65
- 11" WB basic kit, Overall length 15" 7/8" , $69
- 12" WB basic kit, Overall length 16" 7/8" , $75
- 13.5" WB basic kit, Overall length 18" 1/8" , $79 great for crew cab builds
- 14.5" WB basic kit, Overall length 19" 1/8" , $85 great for crew cab builds
All of the parts come in flat black and are machined finished to perfection. All skid plates are NOT predrilled so that the builder can customize it to whatever setup they desire.8)
These will be on our site very soon, if you would like one sooner, please email us at:
info@montanascaledesigns.com
As We said, We think you will find this to be the most universal scale chassis kit on the market, we hope you guys enjoy them as much as we do."thumbsup" Axle's and kits that we have used with this chassis:
- Axial
- TLT
- Losi MRC
- Tamiya Hilift
- Tamiya Hilux
- Tamiya CR-01

Here are some pics of the 12" WB chassis next to the New Bright " JK " body that is available in many stores now. The WB on the body is 13.5" but we wanted to TUCK the frame under the body. With the most universal scale chassis, the WB change was simple."thumbsup"
I think UTE is an Australian term for Utility... like the Ford Falcon UTE (http://p.webwombat.com.au/motoring/car-photos/ford-fg-falcon-ute-4-big.jpg).
Never the less... it's an amazing looking chassis! Will the skids be offered as pre-drilled for specific trannys(AX10, R2)? Looking great Ben! "thumbsup"

hey Mike, the 10" wb model should work for you. there's 1-1/2" adjustability in the wheel base. might have to cut the rails to fit in the body-that'd be the only issue I would guess you'd have.
You should have make it out to Vasquez today. You could have seen mine and Difuser's in person..."thumbsup"

And how wide is the chassis?
chassis is 3-1/4" clear inside the rails, 3-25/32" outside to outside rails. I didn't mic' it, just measured with ruler so its as close as I could get.
[edit: it was probably 3-3/4" outside rails before powder coating, which adds a slight thickness]

I've been looking at these and must say I'm impressed!
I am building a scaler (HiLux), and have most everything figured out but the chassis...
What wheelbase should I get the chassis in to fit a repop HiLux body?
I will be leaf sprung in the front, and 4link out back

clods crew cabs I've seen end up about 14" wb. Either the 13.5 or 14.5 should be good as they all have a fair bit of adjustability. The 14.5 will give you more frame under the bed. That will probably look more scale than one that is a bit short.

Having both sitting here in my shop...
I can honestly say upgraded is an understatement.
Maybe in shape (but really how many shapes can you make the frame in)
But the quality of the MSD kills the old Dtrail, and at a fraction of the cost!
Its like buying a Cadillac for the price of a Civic.

Wanting to get a 10" wb UTE chassis. Does the axle truss come with the frame less the shock mounts? Can't seem to find a price on the axle truss.

I am still waiting for just a shipping quote which I requested from MSD by email on 10th Jan and again 10th Feb after a previous forum post provoked a reply by Uni.
I am very dissapointed with the lack of communication and effort from MSD, customer service is non existant :(

Quite honestly, you are full of crap Ben. When you finally replied to my initial email you were added to the 'Safe Senders' list. No excuses.
I have one very vauge email from you in reply to my initial, which proves you recieved my email. You only took the time to send a reply when prompted by me in this forum. In my email I acknowledge that you were out of stock and I merely wanted a total so I could secure one on the next run. I am a network consultant by trade, there is NOTHING wrong with my spam filter, dont give me that crap and stop lieing to people in a public forum as you are only making yourself look bad.
Your lack of honesty and diligence as a trader on this forum is very concerning to say the least.

Regardless, I am seeking truthful answers from Ben, not a public debate with other members and as such this is the only one I personally will entertain.

You do need to relax, Ben does this as a hobby to help us out, he doesn't make a lot of money off this stuff, and jumping on him isn't going to make anything better..
Ben has always done me right, an I would put my personal name on the line for him.
there are other members on here that take your money and stop talking, trust me I have been there. If you are waiting on a shipping quote for something that doesn't exist, I can guess that shouting and making a scene is not going to get it faster..
Just looking at rates, shipping could be between 20 and 45 bucks...

Hi Ben,
I don't like to contact you here on this forum but, it seems it is the only way I can catch your attention.
As I told you in my last 2 email, on February 20, I sent you my payment for a complete MSD UTE Chassis + 4 MSD 4DYCE Beadlock. On March 9, I sent you an email asking you if you have shipped my parts and your answer was 'yes'. We are now 12 days later and I still haven't received my parts.
Did you really shipped them ? When ? Do you have a tracking number ?
You almost billed me 50$ for shipping for a USPS Priority International shipping. At that price, I hope you have a tracking number ?
Can you please answer me and give me some anwers. What happened ?
Thanks
