so I want to go brushless with my slash and I need some feedback on a couple different setups.I currently run a venom 4200 7 cell pack but am thinking of picking up either a 2s or 3s lipo. Still running stock gearing and wondering what gearing changes are reccomended for keeping temps safe. I don't race it just more of a basher round the track and yard. any input appreciated. thanks in advance.:)

thinking of going with
cc sidewinder 5700kv combo
or 4600kv combo

also considering the novak havk 8.5t sensored combo.

all 3 around same price or maybe even with this combo

I have a 4600 with a 3 cell geared to the moon and its useless over half throttle, a 4600 on 2 cells would be more than plenty.

I haven't changed gearing since I got it. I know it come swith the high speed pinion. I think stock is 18/86 and the extra pinion included is hmmmm no idea. never even took it out of package yet. any gearing reccomendations for the 4600 or the 5700. I think my LHS only has the 5700 in stock right now.

I've got a Novak GTB with Velociti 5.5 (7400KV according to Novak's charts) in mine. I'm running some cheap Epic 3000 NiHms. I've got it geared way low at 13/86. It's top speed calculates out to about 36 mph with a run time in the range of ten + minutes. I don't know what my actual temps are but the motor and ESC barely get warm. The battery on the other hand has gotten pretty hot.

I keep it geared down because of battery quality but the speed is still respectable. If I throw any more volts or taller gears at it will start getting into the crazy range. I already want to do some work to the diff to keep it from unloading in the corners. I roll it all the time on the street if I'm not careful about the whole throttle control and corner thing. 7 cells with the current gearing is about all want to go and still keep it what I consider controllable.

I put a vxl system in my Slash. 7 cell 5000 nimh packs. Stock gearing. Pretty incredible power and great run times for me. Not too short nor too long. I have since gone back to the stock set up xl-5/titan for snow bashin. You get a ton better handling if you add some 50k (or your choice)diff fluid.

Go with the 4600. plenty fast on 7-8 volts, silly fast on 3S.

The 5700's get a bit warm in a Slash.

im also in the market for a new motor for my slash
ive tried the 9,000kv and it was just way too fast. id get cogging at even the slightest hint of throttle (*mainly because i refuse to convert to lipo)
when i finally get to speed the flightest bump in the road would get the thing airborn.
and when i do use a borrowed lipo, a quick squeeze of throttle and the thing wheelies and flips over, even at speed

i was thinking about going w/ the 5700kv, but like many have said the motor tends to get hot. would installing a heatsink onto the motor remedy the problem? if not a regular heat sink, how about one w/ a fan on it? since im using it mainly for bashing is the fan breaking off on a hard fall going to be a concern ?

*btw should this be in the non crawler rc section?

Brushless, or brushed?

Great brushed:

As far as brushless, I like the Velineon.
