Ok guys. After 2 weeks of waiting. I got my KRF from AMain. Canada Customs was holding it for 9 days . While my Tower and Stormer orders came in first.

So, what do you do when you get an awesome kit like this? Of course take some pics!

Here you go:

While waiting, I read all the story of other forum members of the infamous missing parts. It really got me worried since I saw this sticker in the box. You know all about that serial code already.

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y179/4wdmt/004-3.jpg

But upon checking the inside box, I saw 2 flaps of clear tape on both ends and a center white sticker. Mind you, I haven't opened the box yet, but all 3 flaps are already slashed.

A closer look at the center sticker, you will see this...Resealed by Kyosho America...

It give me a little assurance that something was done inside the kit while it is in K-America. True enough, while checking the contents inside, the 2 shafts are packaged seperately.

I am all happy and relieved that kit builidng will go smothly.

Thank you Kyosho America for addressing the missing parts issue. I am confident that future kits won't have this problem anymore.

Well, these items are waiting long enough to be used, including the HS gears.

I will stop yapping and start wrenching. Sorry for the long post guys. I am just glad I can start building now. It is half the fun of having an RC kit.

(Note: If the pics posted are offensive in any kind to Kyosho. I apologise in advance. You can take them off as you wish. It will be ok with me. I just put them there for info for future KRF owners. Thank you.)

Glad you finally got your kit!

I didn't want to go into the fact that Kyosho America was going through the kits doing the checks because as luck has it, some got out before even they knew about it and someone would be disappointed.

Mistakes happen. How you deal with them is key. Kyosho is all about the customer and I hope it shows.

Now, the next pics had better show some progress "thumbsup""thumbsup""thumbsup"

I got the new Proline Descender. Not sure if I will run it on the RF or as my scaler.

I won't bore your guys with step by step building pics. So, for the night...this is my progress. I'll just continue tomorrow.

Some few comments...the parts used here are massive and beefy. My hands are hurtin' with those links ;).

Dave, looks like a nice body for the KRF. Post a new pic when you put all those new additions to your KRF.

Thanks Carl.

A little update. Chassis is done with front and rear assembly.

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y179/4wdmt/010.jpg

This is to show 34t pinion and 72t spur combo. There is still a little wiggle room in the motor adjustment screw slots. Maybe, a 36t pinion will still fit inside.

Now...for the shocks.

I have a Venom 13t double inside. I'll see what kind of speed I'll get with that motor, spur, pinion and HS gear set combo.

Dude, that thing's going to wheelie.

Then it's going to overheat.

HSG, with 72/34 gearing and a 13t! Its going to be a rocket ship!

Hi guys. Thanks for the warning . But surprisingly, after I put on all the electronics and test it indoors, the speed is just right (for me anyways). No wheelie, no super fast ridiculous speed. I guess you really need a lower turn motor to make this car move.

If there is a chance to do some outdoor run, I'll check the temps if it is geared correctly.

Last pics of the build. Electronics bay is kinda cramped, most especially with monster electronics like mine.

saweeet RF 4wdmt, great paint job, i will not even ask how you did that coz i wont be able to replicate it, great set-up like how you did your antenna "thumbsup""thumbsup""thumbsup"

Looks good man, did you put a wire mesh up to the body when you painted it to get that pattern?

4wdmt
02-09-2009, 04:01 AM
Thanks guys.

Yup. That is just a simple drywall/mesh tape effect. Slap it over the side, painted it metallic blue, then overlap it with light white. Nothing special "thumbsup".

The antenna mount is some spare platic parts I found from my tool bin. I think that is for the antenna of Tamiya buggy.

Man 4wd you didn't have this truck long. I bid on your auction but got sniped. Why did you get rid of it?
