Only need the SCX10, which I already got a confirmation # for it, so early next week it should be here.

What are your plans to stretch the WB?

4 Link for sure I assume and new lower links as well?

4 Link for sure I assume and new lower links as well?

Yes, using the standard 4 link, I will get some M3 screws, and cut the screw heads, and use the rod in all 4 corners (16 screws I believe) to extend the wheelbase. This worked out well last time I did it, and was plenty strong.
If not, then new lower links for sure. "thumbsup"

Thank you. This one seems like I will keep for some time, because I have everything I wanted in the first place. An awesome scale truck (SCX10), brushless, and to top it off, a DX6. :-P

Sorry for the quick and not so good video. Also, you can tell I have never used a stick radio. It is hard for me, especially with a truck so fast. Check out the jump at the end. It seriously took no effort. I love this brushless though, it gives you precision control at low speeds, and awesome high speed.

No action pictures, but I took the SCX10 to the sand box, and it was a blast. I really need to thread lock the drive shafts...kept coming off at the hint of hard gas.

It throws sand like it has freaking paddles when it is in 2WD. I ran it like that for a bit.

Today's lesson guys: Brushless Rocks!

I think I will extend the rear only seeing as the front can't be extended more since the servo will hit a cross member. So I need new rear links and extending the driveshaft.

cut the back doors off , make that body two door IMO , if you extend the wheelbase the wheels will look too small to the scale ...go to the scale section and check some body cutting down stuff"thumbsup"

MiddleT
01-31-2009, 04:36 PM
2.2 wheels an tires may be what I will go with on mine. 1.9's will make it look too much like a stock jeep with 31's on it, IMO.

I hate dinky tires and wheels on jeeps!

AeroSynch
01-31-2009, 05:27 PM
I stretched the wheelbase today, and it was quite the challenge, but it now is 13" to fit the JK body. Body will sit way lower.

sure no problem your just gunna have to make custom drive shafts i think your gunna have to make them with stampede shafts 2 females and one male with the yoke end cut off... that might help give it a shot! please tell me your going to center the chassis though? and you could probably use the stock links you have now to be your 3 or 4 link. they also have diffrent colors on that site for the links. good luck!

Joe Mauma
02-01-2009, 09:07 AM
Sweet man! What did you do finally?

I'd recommend lengthening both front and rear links.

1. You can still use the stock driveshafts
2. Keeps frame centered with body and keeps shock hoops/shocks more centered in wheel wells.

I'd recommend lengthening both front and rear links.

1. You can still use the stock driveshafts
2. Keeps frame centered with body and keeps shock hoops/shocks more centered in wheel wells.

I'm going to be in the same boat soon, my JK arrives tomorrow hopefully, I had thought it would fit right under but oh well.

Now how can we adjust the front and keep the shock hoops centered? They are fixed in position and don't have any other mounting holes. Guess we can drill some extra if required.

Have you already done this before we re-invent the wheel?

Thanks

Hmm, did some quick math...

Existing SCX10 Wheelbase is 290mm

NewBright JK Body is approx 13" or 330.2mm, say 330mm.

Difference of 40mm we need to make up (2 cm front, 2 cm back).

---

Existing pipes on SCX10 are 6x91mm, we need 6x111mm to be spot on (assuming 13" is the exact correct wheelbase for the JK).

Axial makes a nice set of grey 6x106mm pipes (PN AX30516). This would give us 15mm extra per link or 30mm total, just 10mm short on a side...arghh.

---

For the posts, the SCX10's are 7x60mm, we need 7x80mm.

Of course, Axial only makes a 7x70mm post (PN AXA1431), this leaves us 20mm short on a side. Another option is to screw two 7x40mm posts together (PN AXA1425) to get the 80mm length and still have it look semi stock.

---

May still have to break down and make my own links but I do like the nice clean look of these stock Axial links.

My JK should arrive tomorrow so I'll try to obtain an exact wheelbase in mm to see how much we are off.

Cheers
Tim

Yesterday I got a sweet light rack for my Jeep just like I wanted it from 7point2. Thank you so much Christian! I just need to find some lights for it that will look good. It is not mounted yet. I will make holes and mount it later. The 3 holes on the body are for the snorkel.

Are you going to paint the fenders the same as the body? Or are you re-painting the black?

They will be black, body will be Gun Metal. "thumbsup"

Nice. I see how you mounted the rear of the body, but what did you do for the front? Right now I'm trying to figure out how to keep the interior without hacking it up too much.

Velcro. I will eventually have to cut out some interior to make it fit. "thumbsup"

Thanks Joe. I actually like the way they look. So, is there any way that I can still get hooked up with some links? Mine are bothering me since only the rear was stretched and the chassis isn't centered.

I finally got the ride height I wanted as it was too high before. Also cut up the interior to fit the body nice and low onto the chassis. It is rough, but it's not like I can't hide the rough cuts with Ken and Barbie.

The JK bodies are newbright rc cars from last christmas. Check ebay and For Sale section. But, if you can be patient, wait till this christmas and pick one up yourself. I've a lot of guys got them for $20-25 on clearance. The bodies alone are selling for almost $100.
