Hello all! I have been a member for many years, and have learned much from this site how ever I have not posted that much so please bear with me!....
My friend Danny and I are starting a Chattanooga Crawler club which I will have more details as time goes on. If you are interested in joining please feel free to pm me and I'll try to up date you there as well as a full post once every thing is started. We will welcome all surrounding areas as well and be holding events and get togethers around this area.
The main reason for this post is to ask for some of the locals to lend a helping hand. My good friend Brian at Brians Hobby Land, Danny and me (Steven) will be putting together not only an out door course but Brian has dedicated part of his climate controller ware house space for us to build and compete on an indoor course. You could say we have a fair chunk of floor space we will working with. I have pictures I will try to post of the space that we are working to clear and start building. What we need help with is some valenteer time from the locals and maybe if some can donate some building supplies...ie the cheap stuff like rocks, timber, dirt and things like that as well as help us manage the course build. Again who ever is interested please feel free to post on here and post up any ideas you may have for us. This is all being done by the three of us right now to try to get the crawler fans in the TN area to have a place to meet and have a good time together. Brian has also dedicated a part of his store front to getting crawler parts and hop up options that we have asked as well as other parts too. He is also fully capable of ordering threw pretty much any vender and is very good to beat prices. The space we will have is all on one side and the other side of the wall we have one of Chattanooga's best Scale Train groups. Any questions please refer to me for now. I will have more to add to this post as time goes on, and other contacts as well. Any help for now please post up and I'll get a messege to your post as soon as I can.
I have added pictures of the space we have from what it started to the progress we made the frist day. We are working on this and hope to have it done in the next few weeks, that all depends on the support we can get! Thank you for your time I am sorry I was meaning to bring my camera to get better pictures but the camera phone is all I had that day. I'm the hard worker in the mask and Danny is the one with the 80's camcorder. We will have pretty much the whole area that you can see.

Where is this shop and waehouse space located? I'm a local and know most of the crawlers in the area. It sounds good and I'm sure everyone will help, but do you have some more details? Is this the shop on Bonny Oaks?
Good ideas"thumbsup"

Is this the place on Bonny Oaks? If it is, I talked to the owner a month back. I forget the owners name, but he was extremely nice. I told him about all of the crawlers in the area and he showed me the space he had in the back as well as the space he had outside. I joked with him about setting up an indoor track for winter competitions. Sounds like he listened. That is awesome. I live across the street from the store and I am offering my assistance at this time. I know that Harvo will volunteer to help also, and I believe that Pdog and Dtwisted would probably volunteer too. Keep us informed about future plans and times help is needed.

This is Danny. you guys are correct. this is on Bonny Oaks. Steven and I are looking for anyone who can help. we are looking to build possibly building 3 courses. 2 indoor and one larger outdoor. any one interested can pm either Steven or myself. this is going to take a couple of months but hopefully not too long. right now we are only working on it once a week. materials are a must, and that is the biggest thing we need right now. Brian at Hobbyland is working on getting crawler stock in so we will have supplies to help people out on their crawlers. I'll try to post alittle more later.
lunatik888. we are working on Monday's right now. usually from 11:00-4:30.

I'm definitely in for this. I live on hwy 58 and will definately help out however I can. Harvo, Lunatik 888, and myself would love to see this happen. I'm sure others will be willing to help out. You should post this on the ERTC forum as well. Those Cleveland boys would probably be willing to pitch in. PM me when you guys are ready to get this going. We will be going to the Little Rock City comp this Saturday but will be available after that."thumbsup"

This is great guys! I also wanted to let every one know that I will be running a part time service shop at Brian's as well, I have serviced nitro, and electric as well as set ups for on road carpet and out door. I have tools at my house and if the need arises I can bring those in house. Soon once the stock comes in I will also be able to make delrin links in almost any size and skids.Danny will be helping also as time permits, and the rc's will be able to be dropped off at Brian's. So aside from a place for Chattanooga to get to gether for this sport we will have service to get you back on the course if needed. Also You can post on here any questions as well that way to members joining this thread they will be able to see the most FAQ's. Either me or Danny will be available other days as well other then Mondays. Thats the day we are both off the most this comming week I will be off both Mon and Tues. Again thanks to all who are willing to help, the more we get on help and materials the less time before the play time and comps can begin!

Mainly those nights would be Wed and Fri...possibly some Sat nights as well. Again this will be when we can all commit to getting together and what times work for each other. I will have a number list I am going to try to get together for the ones that will be helping out if you wish to give them we can send a pm from one to another to exchange numbers. Any needing mine please send me a messege with your number(s) and Name and I will reply with mine as well and get with Danny to give them to him too. Thank you

Hello Every one I got some pictures of this Mondays progress. We have tons of great ideas and plans to come so keep checking the post and if you have anything you can help out with let us know! Special thanks to Lunatik888 for helping us out greatly and even Harvo stopped by to see progress and got us some more pallets for the build! Danny and I are greatful for all the help every one has given us and can't wait to get this project done so we can have a place in Nooga town to crawl around! Brian has already cleared out a good section of his shop for getting the crawler parts in and kits as well. So its getting close everyone!
The pictures show from the first moch on we still need a ton of rocks to go, but the general idea for the lay out is getting thier. We even had a small course attendant present, and even though the rocks where just set there to get them in one place for the time being she had some pretty tough lines mapped out! I had my 1.9 on hand for the profesional testing....EI ..JUST FOR FUN! I had to set the timer for at least one picture so you all would know I worked a little!

You do want some real rock for the indoor course too right? We are trying to get a rock train (3 trucks) lined up in the next week or so to get you some.
Did the skids work out for what you needed? The pics look good. I'll try to get in sometime next week to check it out.
Good to see you on here Brian. I haven't met you yet but I have heard all about you. My suggestions for some stock items would be some quality crawler sized lipo batteries and related supplies.... some of the new crawler tires and foams, some crawler bodies, various 4 and 5 inch shocks and springs and plenty of rod ends "thumbsup"
Oh yeah... the hot new crawler will be the Losi 1/10 roller crawler coming out in March"thumbsup"

hello to all. Brian, glad you posted up. i hope everyone gets to see what we are getting done. i'm glad to hear you got some parts in. i agree that you are going to need bodies, tires and, other parts to be able to hop-up the rigs. sorry to those who are working on the course with me, i will not be able to get to work on the course until after the first of march due to work and being out of town. once i get back i will be in full swing. we have gotten some great ideas from those who have helped. the truck loads of rock will help greatly. i also have some railroad ties that lunatik888 is going to get from my house when i get back into town. i hope we have a great turnout when we have the first gtg. more later.http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/images/icons/icon6.gif

there is quite a bit of room outside. i'll try to get some pics of the area outside to get everyone's .02. it kinda backs up to a hill and it is a pretty long area, so we could build a good size course. hopefully we can get all the rocks that everyone is saying that we can get, that would be superb.
thanks to harvo for the pallets. we do need some plywood and 2x4's for building platforms and other structures.

Hello all! I just wanted to update every one I will be at the store tomorrow to do a little odd's and ends to the track and get some more plans together for furthering the build. We can still use rock and other materials, I have gotten with Danny and am going to try to do a moch up this week or next useing fiberglass resin to see if this will over take the plaster that we where going to use on some of the higher sections to save on weight. So anyway one that wants to stop by and either say hey or lend a hand let me know, or just stop on by!! To Brian can't wait to see what all you have got!!

Hey Harvo, I started crawling back in January but it seems like I have had an RC car or truck since they started making them. This crawling stuff is awesome and not near as expensive as the 1:1. The course is coming along great, I would like to help but my time is limited to evenings on Monday and Tuesday possibly Saturday after 4 (I have to work until then). Btw I have an electric cement/mortar mixer you guys are welcome to use? Just let me know.
cavie98
03-03-2009, 05:14 PM
hey crawling-yota, this is danny. we could use the mixer if you could bring it buy the shop that would be great. it would make mixing and soaking the burlap alot easier. more and more people keep showing up to help and that is awesome. keep it up. anytime you can help is great even if it is just 1 hour or so.

Hey Harvo try the rock grabbers, I think you will like them, I do (but then again I am a newbie). I think they work awesome they have excellent sidewall bite and the are huge that gives extra ground clearance at the diffs. The stock foams are pretty soft and get better when broke in. Hey everyone sorry so distant I have had a ruff go for a bit being sick then my ride going down, got the tranny fixed and will be at brians as early as I can get thier I have a 9am meeting that should last less then an hour at bestbuy then I will thier to get to work. My father acualy let me know thier is an old quary (is that how its spelled...home schooled is all i can say!) up on one of the MTNs close to my house in hixson that has stacks of rocks out thier. He did say its a little off the road but that it shouldn't be bad unless its been pouring down rain then the dirt road may be soft....like its been raining lately unless I took my jeep I don't think I would want to try. BUT I will be going up thier some time later this week on a four wheeling trip (if all goes well) and I will know if there is enough to bother with making trips up there or not after that. My friend said that I can borrow his trailer anytime I need to go use it so that would speed up the process! Anyway I hope to see as many people at Brians this Monday as possible. I plan to get a lot done and will be bringing my rig to test what has gotten completed. I am planning an area of the floor course for the 1.9/scalers to have an area that this size rig can some course time as well. I might even bring my scaler to test it out just in case I get enough done. If anyone has any sug. for the 1.9 area please feel free to let me know I am completely open to any ideas and help. Hope to see everyone that can come tom!!!! I will try to get a Fri off so I can come to one of the crawl offs.....just retail sucks and working till 10 at night on fri seems to be the one day in the schedual they like to keep me on!

So Brian has been having get togethers Friday nights but we understand that some people may not be able to attend on Fri so we have talked to Brian and he is on board for doing the get togethers on Mondays and Friday night now. So this will give us a chance to hold get togethers set up times and get every thing ready to bring the heat when ever we can all get hooked up for a comp at the store in near future Brian also went to check on rock for us today and found out about that and getting some laods ready for the out door comp course out side and well as maybe funneling some out to finish up the indoor course! The out door set up should not take nearly as long thier will be no stands to build just rock to lay. Anyway to every one thanks for your support and help! Gee I would love to be on the Brian's Team drivers, but I like some others cannot get there due to work. If I had know a cuple of weeks in advance I would have been able to be there by switching shifts. Call me crazy but it would seem a little dirty for some of us guys who have been there with Brian since the start of all this and put 96% of the work into making this happen and some out of pocket expence plus word of mouth to anyone who would listen, to not be able to at least have a try out if not an honorary or flex spot for maybe the local comps. Just me though! :)
cavie98
04-07-2009, 01:58 PM
there is a tryout, and that is great, but it wasn't planned out very well in advance. maybe we need alittle more notice. AND 96% HELL. we've put 100% into this course. every monday since it started. not trying to be a d!<k but we have worked very hard on this for us and Brian. it wasn't just a simple build, it took alot of hard work and time. i know that sddill is putting this together and i'm sure he will pick a good team, but brian has already said that i could drive for him. Brian's store, our course. play if you want, but be fair.
damn, i sound like a Beeotch. sorry for the rant.

04-07-2009, 02:54 PM
Just relax guys this has nothing to do with what happens on the course @ Brian's :roll: Brian asked me to put a team together for comp crawling and help get his name out..As far as I know you guys have never been to a comp..As far as honorary members I have no problem with that..You guys have done all the work and I am sure Brian appreciates that but like I said that has nothing to do with what I am doing..."thumbsup"

I never ment anything about the course like i have said to all the more we get in thier the better all the way around for Brian and all. On my part all I ment was that it seems kind of sudden for some who might be unable to bend thier plans around short notice and thats all that a ment by that. I have been in the hobby since 13 been a service person for a local hobby shop in KY and won many times in dirt 1/10, and indoor stock mod and pro mod carpet track, have been doing crawlers for many yrs. I have been to a good few comps in Nashville area as well as two out in Bowling Green. All though you are right in part since this was many yrs ago the hobby has come a long way and with work schedual and no as deep of pockets as some I am not going to be a top player. All that I ment by the post was a chance to try out and maybe make a fool out of my self would have been nice. I don't claim the course at all other then to have been a part of all the hard work that has gone into it. I did not mean to turn anything into a piss and moan contest. I was asking for the people that have tried and put effort forward into the build and those that have other responsabilities that one day, that they might get another date with a little more notice to see about being worthy or in my case no so worthy and prob entertaining.
Anyway to all who read the thread we really do have a great group of people that have helped out and put time in to makeing this place an amazing course site to come play like we all do and to acualy hold comps. I hope that every one can have a chance to benifit and enjoy the course and Brians Hobby Land!

Let me know when is a good time for you and I can help you with your dig. I will be at Brians Friday for a couple of hours if you want to then. It shouldn't take long. Have you already filed down the output shaft from the tranny? This will take the longest. The instructions are on line at CKRC with some pics. Not the best instructions but enough to get you going. If you get it set-up before Friday, just be sure to turn down your endpoints to around 30% on the dig servo and start adjusting out from there. This will ensure that you don't burn up your servo while adjusting the travel."thumbsup"
