I'll be posting more up later in the week.
This was such a killer event. Even though I only did some pics and vid, I had alot of fun watchin everyone runnin their rigs through these courses.
Wish I didn't have to leave early and could have had time to vid the hill-climb too.
It was some fun stuff for sure.
Chris, the smoke coming out was way too soon for me. It sure was running good when it went.
Great event!
Next time I'm sure alot more will want to come.

That was one of the greatest rc vids that I ever seen in my life. Damn I wish I could have put my truck in that comp. I take pride in pushing my truck to the limit, but that video makes me think my truck has been treated like a prom queen for months. It's time to step it up a level."thumbsup"

Hella fun but that truck pull looked TUFF!!
Still wondering if i want to clean the thing up or not...the green and black are one color..."MUDDY WATER":lol:
As for the pull; there was 60lbs of cement it the back of that Tonka-Truck...the thing sat there for a while and sunk into the dirt. So right off the bat the tires were 1/4 inch down in the dirt. Hard (almost impossible ) to even get it to budge:-(..at least no rear-ends where ripped off the rigs...Guido (grizz4x4) only one to get it to move more than an 1/8th inch, slammed it hard, supprised the rear-axle wasn't removed;-)"thumbsup":lol:

After the water holes his right front tire went out of bounds so his run ended there.

This is the truck I plan on running. I still need to find the right balance of power, speed, and battery life.
Drive train is an R2 powered by a 19t double with a 10 tooth pinion at 70.08:1 on a 3s 2200mah 25c lipo.

Looks like it has good wheelspeed. "thumbsup" One thing to consider is the load on the motor and durability. The little white K5 burned up his motor in the mud pit, you can see the smoke in the second video.
The torque of the Cobalt puller can handle the huge loads placed on it from the mud pit. As long as you are careful and don't push it too much in the mud the 19T will prolly survive though. It totally depends on the mud too, ours was very sticky and weighed down the trucks quickly.
Pepe, is running an Axial tranny with 81/20 gearing and Guido has an R2 with a 14 tooth pinion.

Some of the trucks are based off Tamiya axles and some are running Axial axles.
-The red F100 is mine, it is based off a Reign K2-5 chassis with an Axial transmission and Axial axles. Pepe Build thread (http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showthread.php?t=172120).
-The white truck is Kris', it is basically a Tamiya F-350 Highlift with 4-link suspension and 2.2's. Info (http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showthread.php?t=46707).
-The black Descender with the lights is a CR-01. Belongs to TwistedXT.

A cobalt puller would be awesome. I always build around a pullers diamentions, incase I get one. The 19t with a 10 tooth gives awesome torque and speed I need to cover the endbell with something to keep debris out of it."thumbsup"
I liked when the white truck started smoking it looked real.

I have a foam outer filter from a nitro engine on the endbell of my puller motor. I used the Dynamite DYN2610 (http://www.dynamiterc.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=DYN2610) it is a tight fit on the puller motor, so a 540 can might need the DYN2616 (http://www.dynamiterc.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=DYN2616) but I'm not positive.
Yeah, that was it big hit when the smoke started pouring out. :ror:

I normally run a 7t puller in that white truck, but I ran a 27t epic for that event because I didn't want to dunk the puller in the mud. It was geared 22/87 on 3 cell lipo, and it was stupid fast:lol:

have you tried a 12turn titan yet?? I just put 1 in a 1.9 scaler to try it out, the thing has some rip, its cheap, and torque is good, only issue I have is it needs geared down a little more and with the axial tranny I have no more room for smaller pinion.. I am gonna try it this weekend in a comp see how it holds up under real use, so far though seems pretty good..

Because i've tried pulling things with my scx10 both ways and hooked up to the frame it pulls a lot better. Just wondering:)

No one really even moved the Tonka truck, way too heavy. I think it was some where near 60#. It was so heavy that it actually created divots where the wheels were sitting. It may have moved for some but maybe 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch at best on the actual pull for score.
No one made it through the mud pit either. At the very end of the pit it was deep, maybe 5 or 6 inches. That and mud was thick, it was like cake batter. Once it started to stick, it weighed the trucks down too much to over come. Even with speed, once you started to sink you were done.
Great times though!

Thanks for the info and are most of these trucks axial scx? and what are the rules for what you need on your vehicle?
There was only one SCX-10 at this event. It was the 1.9 white Blazer.
Many on them were based off of Axial axles, but the winning 2.2 rig was a highly modified Tamiya Highlift F-350 and the winning 1.9 was a custom build with Axial axles and tranny.
The rules can be found here (http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showthread.php?t=160997) but will more then likely change for the next event. These will get you started in the right direction though. Any question you could always pm TwistedXT.

The SCX would be a great rig to start with. In order to be competitive you will need speed though. A 27T motor or a 7T Cobalt Puller on 11.1V both worked well for cato's and my 1.9 rigs. You will also need a good winch, a tow strap, and some type of winch anchor. Cato had a Pull-Pal that he built and I used my spare tire.

So how much would that cost to make the scx faster? I dont have a truck yet i was just looking around so if i bought the kit how much would it cost to get it where your talking about?

I ran an SCX with a 27t motor and a 3s lipo and it was really too fast for my fat fingered driving. If I was to do it again I'd run either a mabuchi silver can or a 12t titan geared way down for torque on 3s lipo. You would need a 3s lipo ESC like a FXR pro, sidewinder or mamba max (70-140 bucks, sidewinder being the cheapest) a fairly strong lipo (2200mah 25c or better, probably 70 bucks+) a CCBEC for 25 bucks and the silver can/titan motors are really, really cheap. That would be a pretty good starting point I think. Of course you could spend 80 bucks on a 7t puller, I just don't have the stones to dunk that much money into a mud pit. Make sure to waterproof your electronics"thumbsup"

Hard to say, depends on what kind of parts you go with.
A stock 27T silver can motor can be had for about $13
A Holmes Hobbies Puller motor (http://holmeshobbies.com/product.php?productid=132&cat=17&page=1) runs $79.99.
A Holmes Hobbies Handwound 540 (http://holmeshobbies.com/product.php?productid=199&cat=17&page=1) runs $59.99 and you can get those in different winds.
You could even get a 35T Integy motor.
Some people would say don't spend alot of money on a motor yer gonna dunk in the mud, but my Puller motor is fine. I just washed it that evening and sprayed it with WD-40 to prevent any rusting.
A decent 3 cell LiPo from Holmes Hobbies (http://holmeshobbies.com/product.php?productid=234&cat=10&page=1) will run $34.95. If you don't have a LiPo charger you will need to get one or use a NiMh pack with 8-10 cells.
A Castle Creations Sidewinder (http://holmeshobbies.com/product.php?productid=178&cat=2&page=1) is an excellent ESC and will handle the 11.1V just fine. It runs $74.99.
However, if you just put in a 27T motor and ran it on a 6 or 7 cell NiMh pack I can guarantee you will still have lots of fun. "thumbsup"

I think the biggest reason that there wasn't that many SCX-10 running that day is because no one really had one or like me it was so new that the paint wasn't dry yet and I didn't really want it's maiden voyage to be a mud bash fest. Looking back on it I should have, but at the time it was just too new.

Thanks everyone,
This was a 1st time event of this type at Finish-Line-RC and it was fun for everyone that went.
There will be another one next year for sure with new courses and alot more people from the response we are seeing.
There was also a hill climb that happened but I had to leave early and didn't get a chance to video them.
The kids that were there had a blast playin in the mud pits after everyone ran too.
Good time for all.
Thanks for watchin, it's fun to watch again and again because I always see something to smile about.
