I'm looking for anyone around Boone co. that knows of some good spots to crawl. I have a couple minis and a super so anywhere will work. I was thinking of building a test course or maybe getting some comps going but don't know yet. So if anyone knows of any good spots around or wants to try and get a crawling scene in the southern part going let me know."thumbsup"

See what happens when i get away from crawling for a while, guys pop up in my backyard looking to crawl. I'm about 10 miles up Rt.3 from Whitesville in Raleigh County, might as well consider myself a resident of Boone. Though at the moment am crawlerless, cliff climber on the way though.

Yeah there are a few people that I know of personally with crawlers. I know there are others. A friend of mine lives at whitesville, he has a stick crawler and his brother also has one also. There are about 4-5 ax10's out there I know of cause i built them and sold them. Then there are numerous custom builds i'v seen.

That's great, sounds like we could get a get-together setup pretty soon and not have to far to drive. Even if I don't have a crawler built I'd show up just hang out and talk toys.

Let me know where those backyards are. Im in the charleston area and Im willing to drive a few hours each direction just to crawl new spots. There are others up here that are crawling, too. A buddy and I crawl a nice spot 5 minutes from my house 2-3 times a week, but its on private property and the property owners arent willing to have a ton of people up there. We are currently looking for a nice place big enough to do a 2.2 comp for about 50 or so trucks. Ive just about scrapped my plans to go to Tennessee for the Southeast cup since no one has shown any interest in traveling for a large regional comp. Let me know if anyone plans a gtg or comp in the southern part of the state. I'll be there if I have enough notice to plan it all out with the old lady.

I meant backyards as opposed to large proper places. I have about 4 rocks piled next to my garage to play on, but it gets my crawl fix for the time being. Tiny was talking about wanting to build a course on his property but I never heard anything more about it. Here's all i have to play on these days.

I'm starting on the course. I cleared some weeds from behind an old building that sets on my property. The spot I'm going to use is Under some Tall trees we'll have good cover out of the heat in the Summers. And there's a creek on the sight some slight up and down slopes, Logs stumps, and all kinds of usable room.I'm talking maybe 60 feet by 50 feet easily. So I'm going to need rock...lol ALOT OF IT. I'm going to build all the obstacles from stuff that already there trees logs branches etc.I will however use other things as well like rope for a rope bridge across the creek.Oh BTW the creek is about 4 feet deep and 8-10 wide. It's dried up too. so a trail going down into it and up the other side is a must. Plus a rope bridge and I'm also going to build a wooden bridge out of limbs and stuff.I have plenty of spots on my property I can get dirt to build up mounds of it to save on rocks. I'm also going to build a trail inside the crawler course. That way it'll be duel purpose. A crawler course and a trail for mine and my wifes scalers.I've thought of ways to mix the 2 courses together so We can use parts of the course for both crawling and trail running. So if anyone wants to help out it would be much appreciated. I'm not talking about money.(I've got all the tools except a shovel...lol I broke mine). A little labor would go a long way I got most of the stuff to build it just need some help with planning ideas and building it.Oh and if you got rock or know where we can get some free that would be great.Any help would be awesome. and this course will always be here because it's not in the way of anything and will never have to be tore down or moved. But there is more room around it that can be used also.Heres some pics of where I am on the work so far. These were taken around 4:00 pm so you can see the shade. These pics. aren't of the whole site just what I've cleared so far.And it's not major weeds It's hard to explain but there really easy to cut.

this is going back to the spot.

As you can see theres plenty of room and a huge amount of potential. So Tell me what ya think and if you wanna help with it. Shoot me a message and I'll tell ya where it's at and my phone number so we can plan a time.I'd say 1 day of work with a rake and some cutting we would be ready for some planning and rock.

You know I'm in for some work. I don't have a way to haul it, but here up Drews Creek and Peachtree, there are tons of large and small rock piles from where they are putting in the new water line. If someone has a truck and/or trailer you can grab as much as you can haul, or lift. There is also a burnt down cinderblock building that is crumbling, so you can get a lot of ëxtra grip" material from there.

Sorry about that Tiny, at the time we talked I had things come up and forgot about it till I got an email saying someone posted in this thread. I'd still like to help out and get a local place built. Maybe this spring.

Nice, I like those axles. Most of my junk is in pieces as usual, though I'm toying around with an IFS crawler idea. Once it's watmer maybe I can finish my cliffclimber tuber. I just ordered a micro crawler as well. So if nothing else I could crawl on the gravel, haha.
