How do you guys mod/lengthen/shorten your XC drive shafts? I am gonna lengthen mine so it can fit other bodies...thinking of modding it so it can be adjustable...

Wow two squatches in the same thread???
I have seen the mod before where they pry open one side of the yoke and use a longer steel shaft or whatever to replace it.
I am thinking of making it adjustable as I am making my links adjustable so different bodies can be put on it.
I just took my blazer xc out back and ran and it was just too much fun so I might put my hilux body on it too...lol
I have also seen black plastic Traxxas driveshafts used too.

I was hesitant in posting...then I realized that its "bagger" not "banger"...I got worried :-P:-P
Will check those other mods out. Havn't really noticed a difference. I did see on RPP website there is a aluminum upgrade, front and rear...all new axles, and A arms...anyone see those...also has a pretty cool driveline on that....
shortening is easy enough with a dremel.
lengthening is a little trickier.
i think the ol' pede drive lines work great.
just mate a couple extra pieces together to get the length you need.

I actually ended up drilling a hole and sliding out the pin and used a longer 3/16" inch (0.35" thick) aluminum tubing. Drilled two holes on one end so I could use it between 11.5 to 12" wheelbase.
I fitted the hilux body on it now...will post some pics later.

I was at the local Ace Hardware store and saw that there was steel rod about 3/16" (didn't measure). Didn't even think about this thread till about 2 hours later...came in 2' I think.

Took the xc hilux out for a run today.
Here are some pics of the drive shaft lengthened and modded 4 link using ball ends.

I also cut the stock linkn and used the same rear shock mount. I screwed them into the axle housing that way it has more of a direct transfer of compression rather than the stock plastic link bending.

thats a good lookin rig....Why did you go with a "pan hard bar" in the back??

I added the pan hard bar to prevent the excessive swaying. Before adding it, the whole axle wouldn't stay in alignment during articulation, thought it had amazing flex....highest I have achieved on this xc chassis.
Its there temporary though, I might move it to the upper link for more clearance. The pan hard bar also added a lot of stability to the car during cornering for on road speed.
Squatch71 are you modding your xc chassis as well? what body are you putting on it?
