Kid's Jeep for UTRCRC Scale Adventure

Well my boy had been asking to come to comps more so I wanted to get him something for the next two UTRCRC Scale Adventures.

It's a pretty straight forward build. Full bearings and changed the rear springs to Associated Buggy fronts, second to softest.

I'm running a 3s Thunder Power 1800 battery in it and with a 70t handwound motor it feels like the perfect combination of speed and crawling, especially after I downloaded the new FXR upgrade the startup is super smooth.

I had to trim the rear fenders a bit but afterward the RC4WD Dirt Grabbers on Proline beadlocks fit perfectly and tuck awesome!

I forgot to say that I narrowed the front bumper. When I narrowed it I ended up cutting out the stock front body mount screws to I took some spacers to make up the gap and just drilled through and bolted the body mount piece back in. I used Pro Weld to weld the styrene back together. It's far more capable and better looking now"thumbsup"

Thanks, the tires are surprisingly pretty good. They seemed to hold right there with the Mud Thrashers.

I couldnt agree more. I made up a set of the Dirt Grabbers with the BFG sidewall like I did the Thrashers and they're awesome. Look very scale too and are the same size as the BFG.

I have to say, the tires really work quite well. They were holding right there with Losi Bashers and RC4WD Mud Thrashers with no problem. I'm very impressed with them.

Well the boy's given this thing a good beating and it could use some love:mrgreen: I picked up some RC4WD 1.55 wheels and Rock Crusher tires and needed something to put them on so this was it"thumbsup"

The wheels didn't just bolt right up, in case anyone is wondering. I had to grind a bit on the rear axles so they wouldn't bind on the wheels and I used traxxas shims to take up the extra gap between the wheels and the axle nut.

Those wheels look good on that jeep. Thanks for mentioning what needs to be done to make them fit

They do look good, but if RC4WD can't get them right, then I won't spend a dime of my money on them. No reason for us to hack up our trucks for their lack of R&D!

There was barely any hacking to be done. Any other axle they will mount on without modification. It's just the ears where the axle housing bolts together. I only had to take about a 1mm little wedge out.

The review I read mentioned all sorts of problems with these wheels.

Hub hole being too big, not enuff room around the lugs for a proper nut, wheel will not center on MRC axles, Pin slot is too large to be used on MRC axles and locks up the axle due to it botteming out on the casing. All in All, they made a great looking wheel that is usless without some sort of modifications on our part, $40+ shipping is too much for me to have to spend money on that isn't a direct bolt on. They do look good and I am not dissing your truck at all, I am just saying that I or anyone else should not have to make our needs fit a product, that product should be made to fit our needs. Very piss poor R&D was used to create this product, they should have used out of house testers before it was ever put into mass production and made to fit the needs of all the major branded trucks that we use, without the need of self made means to make it work per application.

Hopefully they clear up those issues but until then I'm really not all that unhappy with them.

I hope they do too, they are a great looking wheel and they offer some of the great performing tires in the smaller diameters that will fit our needs for trucks like the Wrangler and Pajero without any body mods required. They do look superb on there, no doubt! A million times better then the ugly prolines you had on it in the beginning.

Agreed, I prefer to see alot more Military wheels and 8 -10 lug offerings for us guys who mainly build Military rigs. 5 Lugs for my Defender would also be great.
