I was looking on a map at locations at the center of Provo Utah, Colorado Springs and Phoenix. Here is what i came up with. I will try to scout out some of these spots when i'm coming back from Moab.

.....................................phoenix....pr ovo....colorado springs
kayenta, arizona.............6..........8.5......7.25
shiprock, new mexico .....6.5.......8.........9
bluff, utah ..........................8..........6.5.......8
mexican hat, utah...........7.5.......7.25......8.5
moab, utah.....................7.25.....4.25.......6.5

Bluff, mexican hat, and kayenta look good.

Ahhh... you're leaving out the BEST crawlers... ORCRC. Gotta find something that'll fit with us as well.

ORCRC is all shafties... so we know how to drive the shafts :flipoff:

hey toyo. i'd love it if all the west coast guys could crawl together. but your just so damned far up there. too far to drive. but i'd like to make it up there some time and crawl with you guys. the r/c rock crawling community is so small it would be nice to come up there and meet all you guys. i'd have to fly up though. that's why i was so bummed out when i couldn't make it to sept 11 in colorado, i wanted to meet fishmaxx. hopefully i'll get to meet some of the colorado guys at the moab comp.

Bolder City, Nevada? There are always cheap flights to Las Vegas. And there is plenty of rocky terrain on Bolder City. it's just 30 or so miles fron Vegas.

It would be GREAT to compete with the OR and WA crawlers. Also all you CA crawlers too. A Western Regonal would be great.

I'd be down with the first three :) I'm only 4 hours or so out from them.

Too bad flag isn't further north or I'd be a better candidate.

Troutdale OR; 11 hrs
Phoenix AZ; 12 hrs
Flagstaff AZ; 10 hrs
Colorado Springs CO; 9 hrs
Los Angeles CA; 10 hrs

Pinchy and Kaetwo have been holding centrally located comps.

We jawed about this months ago and nuttin ever came of it. I say we just show up to the UTRCRC events.

14 people signed up for Dirk's only 7 showed up

I trust Pinchy and Kaetwo to pick a location. You can't make everyone happy, and you should not try.

I would prefer a location near an airport like Boulder City or Salt Lake City.

I'm not tryin to shoot down yer idea Kevin. I was just pointing out that if we include the ORCRC guys, Salt Lake was actually pretty central. 8)
Actually if we include Fishy that puts us somewhere near Nebraska as the central location
If you wanna look at New Mexico and Nevada that is cool, I am down for that as well.
I just remember this: http://www.rccrawler.com/forum3.html

I guess my title was missleading. I guess my main point is this: I would like to compete in comps but the 12 hour drive I made to provo for Rumble #2 was just too much. i would like to compete in the comps but colorado springs and provo are both about 12 hour drives for me. Too far. (but i guess compared to Fishmaxx, a 12 hour drive is nothing)

If you guys would attend, i would like to find some places that are max 7 hour drives for everyone. I'm up for an event in the more westerly direction pinchflat. I just want to try to find places within 7 hour drives for the utah, colorado, and arizona guys. We can do west central too, for utah, california, arizona.

I hear ya Kevin, 12 hours is too long for a wekend trip. I'm down for AZ, NV, NM, UT area stuff for sure. Let us know what you find on your way back from Moab and maybe we can figure this out.

That would be sweet but man oh man is it a long drive! I drove up to the southern part of colorado for some snowboarding and that was 14hrs drive nonstop! 8O So it would be more if you came down here I'm sure

Next year I've got plans to go snowboarding again and some wheeling, hopefully in Moab and if I can get my yj running in time. I'll definitely try to make it out there for one of those comps!

I think a really big meet like this for everyone would be an AWESOME event! I'd go for sure! :D

Boulder City is 5 1/2 hour from Pheonix

If Pinchy and K2 are willing to set it up. I will come :!:

I like the fact that the western states are working together for something like that, a tristate get together and that someone is thinking of the future.

If you guys wanna do St George, I'd be glad to scout a site and set it up...

BTW, snow does not happen down here :D

So when should we try and set this comp up? Oct., Nov., Dec., or should we wait until after the new year? You guys throw out some dates and Pinch and I will put it together.

Oh, by the way Pinch we are going to be holding a large comp. for all these guys in the near future, just to give you a heads up. :flipoff:

Anyway I've talked it over with pinch (see previous paragraph) and he's cool with it too.

HEHEEHHE

Lets keep the brainstorming going guys.

How about one of these:
October 23
October 30 (rides must be in costume :D )
November 6

...if this is going to be a "SW" bash, then maybe we want to hold it close to a major airport like either Vegas, SLC, or Phoenix. And since we are talking winter then maybe SLC is not the best idea.

St George is 2 hours from Vegas and about 6 hours from Flagstaff driving.

I would like to see something in November. My wife is none too happy with two events in September so a little break might be a good thing.

I wouldn't be able to make any long trips untill spring 2005. Out of vacation time and too much stuff going on.

So it sounds like a comp. is needed for November. How about St. Gorge or Bolder City? If so how many would be interested in coming out?

Ace, Griz, Pinch and myself where thinking that it would be cool to compete in Oregon some time too. Any ideas guys?

...I used to live up in the Portland area, so I can drive the UT bus

As far as St Geroge or Bolder, I would show to either location. I am definetely going to do a St Geo run tho, if not Nov, then maybe Dec...
