Permits at Purgatory?

Hello all, i was at Purgatory in sutton the other day with my son anfhis cr-01 and a park ranger came over and told me I could not use the truck there. They said I needed to pull a permit and then crawl "way far in the woods". Anybody have any input? Thanks, Tom

We've been crawling @ PC for about five years now with little to no problems but with the influx of new crawlers and larger comp crowds the rangers have now made crawling there difficult. We always stayed away from the chasm and off the hiking trails but evidently that is not good enough now. :roll:

Typical... you find a good spot and get kicked out. What's this world coming to when you can't even play with a toy truck? I mean they are electric so noise isn't an issue, what kind of damage are they actually going to cause? I feel especially bad for the people that live near there and actually pay taxes to the town and still can't use the property.

Has anyone found out what it takes to get a permit to crawl?
I don't imagine it's a big deal, probably not much more than something to protect the 'Park' from a lawsuit if someone gets injured.

It's not good 4u2nv... We only run electric crawlers, no nitro, no go fat electric rigs, pick up after ourselves and are not loud and obnoxious as a group. The most damage we do is brush some leaves/pine needles of the rocks. Oh we may move a rock or two to build a course. I've even volunteered my time to help pick up trash, trail repair etc. PC is a state park so all Mass. residents contribute.

Yes... meet with the head Park Ranger Rene and only crawl on the rocks that she tells you.

Like i said earlier PC has been our "homebase" for comps & gtgs for our club. We had a comp there back on June 13th and the courses were laid out way over on the right side of the park far away from the chasm. The summer and fall are the busiest time of year @ the park.

Please everyone do all of us a favor and work with Rene as we would hate to lose this place permanently.

Like Joe said - Please work with Rene. We may not be able to use the whole place but a little Purgatory is better than no Purgatory (does that sentence sound wierd?)

better yet. Lets stay outta there for the balance of the year. Tons of other places to crawl. the chasm is a big deal to teh parks dept. so let them have it. We can all go elsewhere and not make a bad situation worse. It starts with one spot.:-(

Do a little research on the area, find out everything you can, talk to city officials, contact anyone you can, be professional. You might be able to get things to sway your way. "thumbsup"

We've done the research, spoke with the Park officials and are accommodating their wishes.
