I know this doesn't contain any real "tech" but since this is a closer net group of users in this part of RCC, I wanted to have every CC-01/XC chassis user to help me get GPM to produce nifty aluminum parts. I have already sent them a email about wanting to see aluminum upgrades as well as important steering replacement parts made in aluminum!

I have gotten a response back and they said they would look into the CC-01/XC based platforms BUT I want everyone to send them a message to think about making steering parts!! If someone can do it, I'm sure GPM can.

Go to this page, fill out the info and make sure you let them know that the CC-01 is worth their time to produce parts! I want a steering system!

http://gpmracing.com.hk/catalog/order.php

Make sure you let GPM know that the CC-01 rig is popular enough to make parts for!!!

So far here's where we sit...

(thanks constantmotion, for nice snappy of the list)

Thanks guys! I really hope they start to make anything for the CC-01/XC chassis vehicles. Even if it's just stock replacement parts for bling, it'll be options for us to choose from. Plus, plastic parts suck.

Got this email from them tonight.....

Thank you for your enquiry to us.

In these days, we have received a lot of enquiries about Tamiya CC-01, now we are waiting for the car to arrive in our office and then we will transfer it to our own factory to make options. The steering knuckles, assembly, shocks will be fast to come.

We hope the car will be arrived to us within this week, and so we can get started as soon as possible and then we hope to have some options out at the end of August.

If you have more ideas to us of what are great to make first or special design of any parts out of original design, please feel free to send to me.

Recently, we have parts for the Tamiya Land Cruiser CR-01, do you play this car as well ? I attach to you here pricelist and photos of the parts we make and we have a lot more to come for this model soon !!

I got the same email. someone please forward them the bearing race steering mod so they can produce lots of kits. My servo mod may be too much for them/most owners.

metal trans and diff gears!
metal lower link kits!

edit:
my reply:
Thank you for your reply Clara.
I do not drive the cr-01. All my trucks are custom, but I have recently discovered the cc-01 and absolutely love it. So scale and capable with only a few flaws.

The weak parts of the cc-01, and areas where there is the greatest market for replacement upgrade parts are few but significant.

First, The steering is horribly sloppy. If replacement parts could be fabricated that eliminated the slop it would be great. This would mean new bell crank possibly with bearings and new linkages to the knuckles. The knuckles also have a great deal of slop in them so that would be great.

Second, the rear links are very flexible and weak. If you came up with a replacement aluminum kit, that were round like typical links, that would stiffen up the rear quite a bit.

Additionally, many owners add a chassis lift. You could make a kit, including all the 11 spacers one would need (thickened washers really) of 3-5mm each that would be useful.

Also useful would be slightly longer A-arms so that owners could add longer shocks and get more lift and more travel at the front, which is a limiting factor.

Thank you for your consideration.

I didn't get CVD's from GPM... they were the aluminum universals. Honestly, I'd pass on them. The weight and use of our CC-01's is totally different than an on-road car, which they are intended. If GPM were to make those universals in steel rather than aluminum, I think they'd have a winner!

I've had better luck with the Yeah Racing CVD's holding up to abuse.

I received an email back from GPM with the details of the pre-order and a picture of the steering parts. I will post the pic as soon as I get to a computer. I can't post it from my blackberry.

It looks like it is exactly what we are asking for.

they are asking for half the cost up front as a deposit and the remaining half when they ship out. And as stated before, they are offering 15 percent off for those of us who contacted them about producing these pieces.

I was told that they should start shipping in november.

Again I will post the pic as soon as I can.

Clara from GPM emailed me a list of the products they will be offering for the CC-01 and they included a lot of other parts besides the Steering assembly set....
On the Alloy C hub and suspension arms....are they an exact copy of the original without any mods? In other words installing these alloy suspension arms and c hubs would put the cc-01 back at its stock height and clearance?
I tried looking at the website for photos of the parts but I cant find any...

i have to say the customer service at this company rocks, i too got an email back from clara.
i have been discussing how we use our trucks, and how some of us are using department store bodies on the chassis, creating the need for adjustable wheel bases. i explained the use or desire for a new propeller shaft, and a 4 link kit is on the list she said.
they are very quick to respond and are eager to learn more about our wants/needs.

i have pre ordered the steering setup.

Didn't notice... and really, if the parts are decent enough, I could care less. No one else is making cool parts aimed at the CC-01 rigs. I have spent too much already on parts to try that I thought would work.

Yeah, PayPal fee of less than $2 talk about breaking the bank. For under $18 you get all that is pictured, you'd be almost silly to pass up that deal.

Talk about an awesome response from a company that listens to the people. And to think.... the CC-01/XC chassis rigs have been out for more than 20 years and now there is a kit to replace the worst designed part in the whole rig.

I applaud GPM for their superior response to our needs. Thanks Clara and other GPM employees!!!

This is a really good upgrade for any stock XC steering especially for the price...and not having to hunt down all the parts to do the mod.
Initially I had some problems after installing the kit, it was binding a little and I realized it was the screw on the right steering arm(the one right in front of the drive shaft). It was rubbing against the chassis and took it apart and replaced the stock spacer/washer (shown in pic #3) in its original location and its all good to go!

Hey!

Mine actually had slop at the time of install, just became much more noticeable after the first pack ran through it. I'd recommend not using the supplied GPM hardware, Phillips head screws suck. Get some nice stainless hex hardware. Use lock tight on the lower screw as it's not as easy to re-tighten after the lower suspension is installed.... although I did drill a couple of holes through the lower suspension part to be able to keep the steering tight. Since I am known to "break" things.

Sasquatchbagger

If they did... I doubt they'd want to. The price you pay when buying direct from GPM is crazy low. If imported to the US through a dealer, prices would have to go up. Most would wind up loosing. Shipping from China takes only about 4-8 days at the most, at least to me, on the West Coast.

Mine is instaled exactly like Toyofasts and one of the screw heads would hit the chassis every time it turned. I have everything as tight as I can get it so I took an X-Acto knife and lightly scraped some plastic off the chassis (aprox 1mm) and it works great. I also used GPM's knuckles and they are a perfect fit!

Hi to everybody.
I sent an e-mail to Clara asking her for the gpm parts for the cc01 . She told me that I will have to buy them on their dealer in spain -trp- but they didn't have in stock yet:evil: and I NEED THE PARTS:mrgreen:
I will need the steering kit and the cvd's. Does anybody know where i can buy this parts? I want not to buy on trp because if the real price of the steering kit is 13$, they will sell for more money as they usually do (for example with the rims for the hpi baja that costs 75$ some online stores, they sell for 110$ plus shipping:evil::evil::evil::evil::evil::evil::evil: )

Please need HELP"thumbsup"

Mine was starting to have some slop in it...so I took it apart and realized the screws were coming loose...so I reinstalled everything using blue threadlock. Also if you modded your xc front independent suspension so they have more lift, the steering links will hit the chassis or the bottom plate, mine was and I had to shave off some plastic on the bottom piece. It now turns better, but somehow it still has some slop in it...not a lot but maybe 3mm...anyone has this problem?

What knuckles, carriers and axles are you running? I have zero interference issues except at full compression of the front suspension. I loose about 2-3mm of up travel.

Yes, I noted the slop issue to Clara in a few emails and was told the units being produced after November will be slightly modded to fix the issue. Not sure if it happened, maybe I need to order another kit just to compare. I replaced all the GPM hardware with my own button head 3mm hardware. It looks better and just made me happy. I'd recommend to all to use lock-tight on at least the lower screw that attaches to the main shaft.

I'm positive that the slop is coming from the top and bottom arms where they attach to the shaft. 1, there is not enough material for the two(shaft and arm) to mate together and make a nice tight fit. 2, it never should have been a 3 piece design for that. Should have had the lower arm and shaft be one solid unit and the top arm be separate. Doing so would remove a problem area.

I attached the only issue I have with the steering kit.... limits my up travel but I can live with it. I have added a couple of spacers to take up some of the gap to help.

Hmm...I wonder if we should contact clara to see if they would send us the replacement parts? Since we were the guinea pigs lol :)
But yea that part should have been a solid piece...

For the $13, I don't think we need to ask for free parts. All we have to do is send her an email showing the issues we've come across and what we think would help solve the possible issue(s). Clara and GPM have been super with customer responses and support.

We know how to fix them, JB-weld or good lock-tight will get the job done... That's my thoughts.

Got my Steering kit recently and installed it at once. Really really works so fine!"thumbsup"

Just to add, I already ballraced my steering before so I didnt need to use the supplied bearings anymore, but still it was a perfect fit. Just needed to add some spacers. The GPM upgrade works so so much better than what I did!

Hats off to Toyofast.

I ended up installing this setup with a set of GPM knuckles at the same time... so its hard to tell how much each piece improved the setup, but BEST UPGRADE EVER! "thumbsup"

I just ordered the steering kit since all you guys said it will improve on the slop. But I was also wondering if anyone has just tried the knuckles themselves to see if they also work out some of the slop also? Or will I be happy enough with just the steering kit? Don't really want to spend money on something that I reallly don't have too.

Ordered 8 sets of steering. they shipped the afternoon of the 29th and arrived today 4 days from Hongkong to New Zealand ...... freakin awesom service to say the least. Installed one tonight and the difference is huge !

If your thinking of buying one of their steering kits then do so with confidence.

Clara and the GPM team are top notch and once my credit card recovers I will be buying some more upgrades from them "thumbsup""thumbsup""thumbsup"

Do you think we can get GPM to make for us an aluminum motor mount? I have the stock silvercan in mine and with both diffs locked, the motor gets really hot (even with a heatsink). An aluminum motor mount can help dissipate some heat and ensure proper gear mesh at all times :) Maybe we can even get them to use a sliding method so we can use pinions other than the 16T and 20T

Don't buy it from FleaBay and give your money to GPM. The more we buy from them the more parts (new and old) they will make for the CC-01

For the 3 dollar price difference it's better to support the companies that support you.

I still have intense slop in my steering after installing the gpm kit. It's on a new cc01 by the way so nothing is blown out. Everything is good up top, but down in the lower regions it's slop city. Can't even drive in a straight line it's all over the place. I know some of it is coming from the stock links, but still lot's coming from somewhere else.
