Racers ARTR Bully truck Kit

Hello guys and gals,

I have been wanting to get this thing done for a while now. Just couldn't find the time. So since I am going to BFGTG2 this weekend I figured I better get started. Better earlier than at 3 in the morning the day of the comp. Since I have a 3 hr drive to get there, that would probably not end good.

So I got the ARTR truck kit. Came all boxed up really nice. Prebuilt. Mine needed tweeked, but thanks to Rob the new Bully ARTR kits will be ready with proper link and shock placement for a great start up. I was the Rock Rider and Copperhead man. :mrgreen:

I chose to work with these items for my build up.

Mamba Max ESC
Hitec 5955 servo
Dual dig switch setup
(2) 35 turn motors (if I can find some)
Low Boyz wheels
3 cell lipo
OG bug body

I chose to give the stock links a try. So I moved them around a little and adjusted the shocks a little and I feel like I have a decent setup to get started with this truck. I have another Bully, but its the OG machined cases, so they will get a rebuild with another chassis soon. Just need to find one. :)

I, of course took the axles apart and threadlocked all the screws. Used red on the knuckle screws. May need to do this a few more times to insure a solid lock.

I may have pushed the limits of the rules for bodies. If not, then I will cut a little more off.

These wheels are perfect fit for the bullies. The extra weight in the axles really make no need for too much weight in the wheels.

So now I need a little paint and a plate for the rear axle for my Lipo.

It has way to much clearance for me, but I wanted to stick with the stock links. This may require some work down the road.

Good eye. I have to tighten the lower links. They keep folding over to the side.

I agree on the trimming. Time to get out the ruler again. :mrgreen:

I ran this on the rocks this weekend at BFGTG2. The truck did great. Especially since the first scratches were earned on the first course.

I am really happy with the set-up. I did change things from the stock setup. However, these changes will be on the new Bully kits.

The X-locks had no real issue. The foam setup is center half is memory foam. (Red Kreepy) and then I put 1/4 sections of the stock foam on each side.

I do need to do something with my shocks. Not sure what I will do, but it was a little bouncy.

Are you using the stock shocks??? I had that same problem. I ended up getting rid of the springs and going full droop. Only problem is at full compression they sometimes stick...I will be adding fuel tubing to limit the compression...

Build looks great Racer. I can't wait to see some updates.

Your rear axle looks like you clocked it a bit with longer uppers. Do you have any issues with the gearbox hitting the links when articulating? Mine is clocked a little less and it just about touches when completely flexed.

Also, any issues with the axle hitting rocks when climbing with the bent links? This was a constant problem for me until I switched to straight links.

I'd also suggest either a shorter shock or going to droop like John did.

How's that servo arm holding up for you? I bent 2 of them badly before I went away from the inverted servo horn.

I broke the stock plastic one. Thank goodness for Nitrojeff, he had an aluminum one. I didn't have time to get to the LHS to get one before the event. I also bent the aluminum one a small bit too.

Rather than switch the setup, I may have a bar made to protect it.

I have not noticed a sticky issue. Well, I did take out the bottom o-ring.

Might depend on where I have the other end of the link mounted compared to yours.

I didn't take any real hard hits at the motor. They are scratched. So I am not aware of any issue with the motor moving. Might want to use a lock washer on the bolts?

Okay, so I up and mounted some of the RC4WD 110mm Sparks Comp Shocks (http://www.rc4wdstore.com/2/product_info.php?cPath=23&products_id=621).

These helped lower the chassis down to a decent height. Probably around 2.75 now. They seem to be a little better and I only need to remove the clear dust covers for them to work okay. May need to grind the one corner of the gear case, but we will wait and see.
