Bully Gear Cover

I'm looking at the axles I just received,,I love these monsters,,,it looks like the gear covers may cause some clearance issues.

Is anyone not using the gear covers,,taping the case or ?

They may cause clearance issues for some. I have never ran them just to see how much junk i could get in the gearbox before I had issues but, I haven't had a problem yet.

If you want to cover them and they do become an issue with clearance i suggest using it as a pattern and cutting a piece of lexan the same shape "thumbsup"

Ok,,,thanks,,I wa thinkin about some black electrical tape,,or a piece of lexan with small button head screws,,so the covers are coming off,for sure....

I just use 2in Wide Clear packing Tape... I have from day one...

I made a lexan one as well. I only had to space out one of the screws as it was hitting the gear inside.

i use lexan from the body i got when i first set up my bullys but ive also seen stickers or decals from hobbyshops/crawler part manufactures

Originally i ran duct tape but they do fit with my Havok build. The bigger issue with them is the motor slipping and changing your pinion mesh. Happens alot.

The lack of shocks reduces many of the clearance necessities...."thumbsup"

The front shocks interfere slightly...not really a big deal, but the lexan idea is a good one. I might make up a new cover this weekend.

I have had that same problem.... not sure what a fix would be.

I am using a piece of AE chassis protector. Its about impossible to get off so you dont have to worry about the lubricating grease bothering it.

I have never had my motor mounting slip.....I like to use a really small bit of blue loc-tight on my motor bolts...just dont use to much you dont want it to get inside the motor.8)

I actually havent either since I filed the tip on the set screw flat. Had the same issue with my MIP shafts on my tlt shafty. You grind the set screw to get more surface area against what its pressing against and that seems to resolve the issue--at least for me it has...

I used a flat piece of lexan from the bottom of a body mold. The lower links on my Havok build had to be bent pretty good to get around the cover and caused a lessened steering angle due to the tires rubbing the links. Once I put the thinner lexan in place, I could take alot of the bend out of the lower links and get a bit of my steering back.

I'm running mine uncovered but drilled extra clocking holes to get them up high.

does anyone have good clear close up pics of the axle mount of a "stick" chassis? I know some are using a ball link from mcmaster but it isnt real clear how it's mounted

I cut mine out of sheet metal. But I think lexan is the way to go. All you do is trace them with an Xacto knife on lexan.

I'll get some pics up asap. as for 3 link I've tried it as well, remove the stock mount put a flat plate straight up and mount to the side most centered, not really a difference. not worth it really. I have also run a unilink lower and a single upper- Pan hard bar. This works very well but not super tough. Great for slick or big rock not for notches or bashing. I find my old pis of that.
