ORCRC 1st Crawling Comp..PICS!!

Alright you PNW folks... ORCRC has started the planning for our first Crawling Comp event.

DATE: April 11th(sunday)
TIME: 11:00AM.. crawling starts approx 11:30-11:45AM
WHERE: High Rocks Park.. Gladstone, Oregon
CLASSES: Run what you bring...
ON-SITE AMENITIES: None
CLOSE BY AMENITIES(within 1/4 mile): McD's, Safeway, Gas stations, Hotel(s), more...
AMENITIES WITHIN 5 MILES: Mall, Hobby Town, tons of things!

One crawling hazard.... water. There will be water but you don't have to go in it BUT some trails/tracks might have a small crossing. We'll try to keep it under 3" deep to help save electronics. Just come prepared for wet tires and slick rocks.


Lots of parking(free) and nice area for a large group to gather for crawling. Trying to get the word out early to get a big group.

If I head down that way I'll be sure to let you know... Farthest I normally go south is to Ashland, right at OR/CA boarder. I'm hoping that my club will be headed for the 'Con this summer but right now I don't know. Plus all my vacation time is taken up by my anniversary trip. Are there any Whistler, BC area folks in the house?

Today's crawling action was great... a bit on the warm side, okay it was freakin' hot out. I got a little too much sun today :D

Well the entrance to the park is on 82nd drive, just before you get to the DMV...across the street from a tire shop. The bridge in the background is I-205. You can see the rocks from I-205 South.

I think that if your crawler can crawl some of the hard lines at High Rocks then it'll be a good crawler. The first gate on course #1 was nearly impossible..to some :lol: Only 3 rigs actually made it up, Ryan's 8x8 TLT, My Juggy and Dan's X-Factor Hybrid.

I'm thinking that mid-late May we should have another Comp at High Rocks....or if we can find something else I'm all for it. Maybe a camping/RC crawling comp over in the Bend area as there's plenty of crawling spots over there :wink:

thanks for all the help i think that a bend area comp. would be graet cause i live there. hope i can get my maxx crawler done by then. The lava flows would be great for a crawler comp, rocks might be a little sharp though

Speaking of a Bend area comp... I'll be at the Powell Butte Rock Comp (http://www.xtreme4x4s.com/rockaholic.htm) on May 14th-16th. I'll be watching the rigs and showing off my little crawler... I'm trying to get more people to come, hell, you live close enough! Pics of the area. (http://www.cascadecruisers.com/032704/index.htm) Should be good watching and good crawling too.

No.. they don't stock anything for a Tamiya RC and I'll have to say that they are kind of a bunch of jack-azzes in there, IMO of course :P Might be a good place to race during the summer but the rest of the year that shop is like a dead zone... walk in there and ya hear crickets :D
