I need to build a WK pro stock to race and would like all the help I can get. Will show progress from start to finish. Here are some of the options I was looking at:
Alloy crawler conversion kit by Integy
STRC - Wheely King Performance Extended Axles set (http://www.eastendmachining.com/stwhkipeexax.html)
STRC - Wheely King 12mm Machined Aluminum Hex adapter set (http://www.eastendmachining.com/stwhki12maal.html)
Wheely King Center Mounted Steering Servo Mount (http://www.eastendmachining.com/whkicemostse.html)
Wheely King Steering Linkage Upgrade (For EEM Servo Mount Steering Set (http://www.eastendmachining.com/whkistliupfe.html)

Now for the build was thinking I will have to turn the chassis around so there is my first question. In doing this does the motor need to be reverse like the rear motor in a clod?

Next motor,ring & pinion?
I have a 8 turn,10 turn,17turn & 19turns

Please let me know what your thought are so I can get started

You dont need the extended axle set. WK is plenty wide to start with!!
This kit is WAY better than the intergy crap.

You can reverse the throttle on your controller when you flip the chassis.

Do you want to race or crawl in comps? That will help deterime motors and gearing alot better."thumbsup"

Looking to race it not a crawler. Why is the Integy crap? The RC4WD is the short wheel base looks like they don't make the extended one anymore. I plan on changing the bottom link to straight ones and the rules call for the 3 link set up or I would have just made new top bars as well.

Intergy is know for having weak products. ( Search around this forum, most people will tell you the same!) If your gonna race i would find something stronger!!"thumbsup"

If you extened your lowers you will have to extened your uppers also, or you driveline will be pionting at the ground.

As for motors, you need to no what the limit is on your speed controller.
Stock wk is 20t max for lowest turn motor.
So it depends what electronics your going to run.:D

The sky is the limit I have a GTX, KOP, Super rooster, and a couple of others in the box. Does anyone race a WK pro stock?

When i first got the King a couple of years back I wanted to build a crawler but ended up with a bling king. I purchased a few parts from Integy, most of which broke shortly after I got them or were broke when I got them. They have horrible customer service. The aluminum chassis was the only thing I think that didnt break it seems to be pretty tough. I no longer use this chassis but I have to say it was surprisingly good. I even drilled some new mounting holes for the shocks. It adds a ton of weight to the already heavy king so thats one thing to think about. I just made a simple plate that bolted between the two sides in the back and mounted my electronics and used zip ties to mount the batt. up front between the two sides. Worked great and no need to flip the chassis. I also widened it using the Integy kit and it has held up well but I find it uneccessary. It does give it a mean stance but thats about it. It kills your turning radius. I would think twice before buying from integy, especially links and things that are tapped. They are either stripped when they show up or the will strip shortly after. I would hold on to that money and look around some before going with integy. There are better parts out there. I made that mistake and wasted money I was not able to get integy to credit me for any of the broken parts. I have also purchased parts from STRC an hot racing and had no problems. I would suggest the STRC chassis. I think its a lil more but worth it. Hope this helps.

Guess I should have started with the rules so here they are:

1. Must run stock Wheely King wheels HPI Part #3062 and tires HPI Part #4894
2. Must run Wheely King transmission housing and gears, directly factory replacement housings and gears are allowed
3. Must run a stock Wheely king chassis HPI part number HPI #85254 or HPI part #85266
4. Must Run Wheely King Axel housings only, Center Differentials, smart diffs and one way bearings are NOT permitted.
5. Must Run battery in stock location in the rear of the chassis, however you may flip the chassis around if you wish to make the battery sit in the front.
6. Must run 1 brushed or Brushless motor
7. Must run no more than 6 cell Nicd or Nimh battery or up to one 2s lipo.
8. Wheel Base is not to exceed 12.5" when fully compressed.
9. Suspension must be of original wheel king 3 link design front and rear

10. Sway bars are allowed
11. Trucks may be 2wd or 4wd

12. Wheel widener hubs are allowed

Let the build begin received my Integy parts last night
Crawler chassis kit
upper link
aluminum spur gear
Phase one
take part the stock suspension down to the chassis
Phase two
install new spur gear (first snag) pins does not fit and will need ground down. enough for tonight will tackle on Saturday when I can send as much time as needed to finish.
Was bugging me this morning that this was not a direct fit so on my work break I went to the car and demeled the pin to phase two finished.
Phase three suspenion stay tune for updates and photo's

Phase three went well was able to bolt everything up and the longer wheel base cut down on the wheelies so no need to reverse chassis. Cons drive shaft had to be redone as the center pin fell out in the bag on one of them and I didn't trust the other so I redid both of them and used lock tight on them. shock mount seem weak so some aluminum ones will be ordered. wheel base is 1/2 longer then what the rules call for so will have to shorten before we go racing

You reminded me of a past article HPI did on the 2007 top speed challenge. The winner of the MT class was a Wheely King driven by Dave Cornell.

Here are some pics.
